A solution to the increasing problems with bins
How about this for a solution?!
Do what you do in any other country and pay as you drink!?!?!!?!?!
I always pay as I go/drink and refuse to have a bin. There are way too many dodgy bar owners, mamasans and bg's who given half a chance would try to rip u off esp if you are drunk. Not all of them of course but why bother with the risk and give them the opportunity???
Having done the pay as u drink thing ever since going LOS I have never had one problem. Simple solution!!

Perhaps you havn't had time to read it yet, sorry I'm not one of the nice members who can be bothered to go off and find you the link, to see it look up MC's recent posts or use the search engine.

But it doesn't happen in every other country trekker, In a lot of Europe its normal to pay when you have finished your drink.

This is not a `problem` so it doesn`t need fixing. I much prefer getting a bin to queueing at bars. Also if you pay for every drink then there is a slight chance that you may get short changed. Just keep an eye on your bin, or pay up every fourth drink or something. There are outrages to complain about in patong, such as racist prices or the tuk tuk cartel. This is not however one of them.

Not a Regular but I'm Happy with Bin
We aren't by any measure regulars. We ahve only spent 15 weeks in LOS over 3 years. But we like the Bin system. For us it means we don't have to keep pulling out cash and ending up with a pocket full of small change. And as far as not trusting the bar. Our feeling is if your are so paranoid about that - find another country to visit and compare the honesty of other. If you can'f trust thai people you can't trust any one. yeah maybe thet over charge the uninitiated. But they don't tend to be dishonest.
