Would you mind tell us what kind of "adventures" you are looking for that you cant find in Thailand?

have you ever been in any other asian country?

do you know the "adventure feeling" to stay in an area without foreigners? in thailand there are farang everywhere, even in the last issan backwater.

do you know how it feels to travel alone? I don't mean the thai-style-travel-alone with minibus tickets and lopraya.

a few months ago, I visited komodo np in indonesia. on komodo island there where only 3 boats in the harbour. I thought: "how would a famous island like that (with the dragons) look like in thailand?"
answer: banana pancake, internet shops, 10.000 backpacks, pad thai, movie bars, 1.000 speedboats, snooker bars, sang som buckets, beerbars, torch shows, travel agencies, indian tailors, ladyboys, 1.000 diving schools,....

Now you describe backpacking, didn't you before say too many backpackers in Thailand? I think you confuse the whole thing again with mass tourism.

There surely are many places in Thailand where you don't see any Westerners, also in the last Isaan backwaters. It happened to me that I've not seen anyone with a bit of white skin for 2 weeks til I came back to Bangkok Bus Terminal.

Thailand always has been a very easy country to travel alone, even in the older days where it was not as developed as it is now. Of cause what you say is true, there are other countries which are not as discovered and traveled. I've heard stories from friends who went to deeper China where they have never seen and english man life before...
