So Tata Young (thai popstar for those who don't know) is to receive sin sot (marriage dowry for those who don't know) of....wait for it....

100 million baht!

this is of course to trump the Sin Sot that Paradorn Srishapan (thai tennis player for those who don't know) would have paid before they split up.

Be interesting to see what her father does when the money comes in.

Frankly if I had a daughter I certainly wouldn't be asking any sin sot, but Mr Young is a different breed.

It's odd that people seem to feel that they have to attach a monetary value to themselves to show the world that they are more valuable than other people. We already know they are rich. So they really need to prove they are more rich than some other rich person?

If you read my comment a little more closely, you will see that it has nothing to do with Thai culture or the tradition of sin sot, per se. Rich farangs do the same sort of thing with the big fancy diamond engagement rings and gifts of necklaces or pendants, which can cost millions of dollars, as well.
