i stayed there in april, it was beautiful. for the price its great, easily a 3/4 star. i had a pool side room, so you just open the window door and walk straight out onto the gardens and to the big pool. there were a lot of chinese people staying there when i was there. a tuktuk to patong was usually a rip off at 300 baht each way, sometimes less if you can be bothered to kick up a fuss. there is plenty to do and see in karon if you like to relax. the beach is also gorgeous on a good day. you wont go wrong with the karon-sea sands resort

there are pics on the website showing the difference as i last remember. i caught the end of april so paid low-season prices, and cracked a deal with the hotel for a package amount of days. it was about 1800 baht per night for pool side room. expect to pay around 4000 in high season if you can can crack a good deal with them
