my gf just foned me nad asked me 2 call her back and when i tried is says this number does not exist have any ideas wat could be wrong .

There should not be a bar (option) for incoming international calls, ... especially since she call you internationally.

All Thai mobile numbers are 9 digits starting with "8" (i.e. 812 3456 78). If you dial from Thailand you will add "0" before the number and if you dial from a mobile from another country you add +66 before the number. International calls from a land line differs from country to country. The + signifies international access. In the US for example + from a land line is 011 so the sequence would be 011 66 812 3456 78.

Okay assume her number is 0812345678, ie all number in Thailand are now 10 digits (not 9)(MrDK probably counted without the 0, based on international dialling question)

From Wales you dial +66 (which is the country code) drop the first 0, so +66 812345678.

This should get through, now for absolutely no reason I can understand, when my friend telephones me from the Uk he also has to drop the 8, so +66 12345678.

The 8 was brought in last year to increase numbers available in the country, but only he finds he cannot get through unless he also drops the 8????

Oh well its Thailand, so I do not even consider questioning it!!

On occasion, it will happen that when you call to Thailand, after a few rings, you will get an operator's voice telling you the number you dial is not connected. Or you get a kind of "call back system" voice line. I hear such things at least once a week, especially when I call to Thailand during "European afternoons".

The remedy is just keep dialing more until you reach her.

I think the satelite connections are not enough to serve all farang boyfriends to call the sweet little Tirak... 55555555....

I think we are all asuming that she is in Phuket or somewhere like that, if she has gone back to her villiage it can be a problem getting a good reception.
