English Speaking Radio Station
If this has been mentioned before then feel free to delete this thread.
Just got a message from one of the groups I belong to on Facebook. It says there is a new radio station launching in Phuket on 3rd December....
""Phuket's first and only English speaking radio station, Siam1FM. We launch on Monday 3rd December and can be listened to either via the web on Phuket's only English language radio station... or on Phuket itself on 100FM. We also have a Facebook Group, 'Phuket Radio - siam1fm'."
Hope this is helpful!

Bit naughty to say "Phuket's first and only English speaking radio station," when there are already at least 3 others with English content>>>
QFM Radio 95.0 FM
Post FM 89.0
Aloha FM 90.50
QFM has always been English when I've heard it. The other 2 are a mix of English and Thai.

1fm now on...
Hi guys, we started live broadcasting on 100Mhz FM last week with the 'All Day Breakfast Show'. We did not make an announcement prior to todays first post as we were testing the transmitter and equipment for a few weeks.
We put a demo show and mentioned during it every fifteen minutes that it was a demo show, so yes, bangladiver, we did play Streetlife every day, and a fine tune it is too.
We are available in Patong only until January when the big mast and transmitter go up. Elsewhere in the world and Phuket, we are available online from Phuket's only English language radio station.... We began limited number live streaming today.
See my post elsewhere for more details of our immidiate plans and news of shows that will roll out as the weeks go by.
We ain't perfect and welcome positive encouragement, we are slightly better than rubbish at the moment. We will get better once we know that the community positively wants a decent 100% radio station and is willing to support it by both sponsorship and contributing ideas, time and energy to it.
You will find us very open to ideas about programming, content and getting the local community involved. If you don't like something we are doing, let us know, don't just sulk around slagging us off.
If you do like something we are doing, let us know, it inspires us.
If you have a non commercial event or charity doo, birthday party etc we are more than willing to promote it. Same with groups and club events, local sport, darts, pool league results.
All successful local stations are a partnership between the listeners and the station itself. Get involved, tell us what you want.

Promoting the forum
Hi, your suggestion is helpful and accurate, Nicke and I have had several conversations regarding mutual promotion and other ideas and what you have suggested is almost bound to happen. I have been a BM for a good deal of my 11 years on the island and am a dig fan of this forum and its membership.

Thread pulled
Hi, it seems the thread I posted to announce the live launch of the station has been pulled, anyone know why? Did I do something wrong?

Does anyone know what has happened to this station? The website has been down for a couple of weeks now.
Are they still on FM 100Hz in Patong?
Used to enjoy listening to their weekday three hour early morning show. Some good - witty commentary and also some great music.
Any info. would be appreciated.

I don't know, but Norrie was bending Nicke's and my ears about involvement in it!!
He seems to think it will be really big, with big sponsorship from clubs and bars around Patong and will be all over LOS within a short period of time.

Thanks for the info. guys.
Looks like the station has folded. Don't think they would still be on-air in Patong without an internet stream or web-site for that matter.
Incidentally, WAVE FM 88 broadcasts on FM and the internet from BKK with live American and English DJs - seven days a week now. Worth checking out.
koolestradio.com : WAVE FM 88 BANGKOK
P.S. Does anyone listen to PCN Phuket?

Not sure what the station is I can get here in Kamalalala. I know the Barber quickly flicks to that channel when I go for a haircut.
It's hasip, hasip Thai-English and quite a few adverts for local stores on there. Music OK too!

There is a new frequency as they want broadcast island wide, 100 will be used for Patong only stuff some times of the week, if I understood Norrie correctly.
Guess we will know more soon!

(QUOTE FROM PHUKET.NET)
"There are three radio stations which have English language programming, though these tend to be a mix of English and Thai. QFM is probably the most English oriented station, with predominantly western music programmes and news in English. 89 Powerzone plays a mixture of Western and Thai music, with morning broadcasts from the Voice of America and the BBC. Aloha FM has some English programmes but mostly caters to Thai listeners."

If you check his profile, he hasn't logged on to the forum since the date of his post in this thread.
Norrie is the only BM I know with any current info on whats happening.
