North American visa?
my gf went to the Canadian embassy or consulate yesterday and collected all her papers and had a lady translate the papers for her
so there were 2 options to apply for
2600baht for a Canadian Visa and 5300 for what sounded like a combined visa for States and Canada. that seemed really weird and maybe she was wrong. neevr heard of that before

I hadn't realized Canada was on the Bush invasion list.
Short of that, doesn't exist.

No way is that correct.....Canada and the U.S. might be friendly but not when it comes to immigration matters!
Ok Paul…..I have to ask...How does an American living and working in Canada sponsor a Thai to come to Canada for a visit? Inquiring minds what to know!

actually, I am allowed to invite soemone to visit under my work permit
from what ive been told, it is almost easier for me than a resident
it almost like they feel i need/deserve to have someone close to me come stay with me?
my old dog walker was a canadian resiednt who was married to a Finish guy
when i told her about my situation she had told me it is actually easier, especially i if was married
so i have got confirmation fromm the embassy in Thailand that i can indeed invite someone living in Canada under a work permit. i have also been told since i have a quite lengthy work permit(expires in 2010) that that is favorable aslo

Ya it is funny how we (Canada) make it easier for a US person in Canada on a work permit to sponser a Thai into Canada. Think the US would let me do that under my TN work visa in the US, I doubt that very much, it would be easier for me to have a Thai fly to Mexico then sneak her accross the TJ boarder.

When do you reckon will she get her Visa? If she just applies now, it will be a bit too late to get her over for x-mas?

Pauls already said he's going to get her ass on a pair of ski's. Should be some interesting pic's. Now if anywhere in Canada has moderate weather it's Vancouver....so she may not be to uncomfortable.

Yeah I know and hope Paul will post a few pictures of a cute Thai lady covered with snow. Should be fun.
And indeed the weather in Vancouver area is not too bad and much more mild compared to winter in Montreal, where I lived for about a year, about 15 years ago.
