Thumbs up New Mexican Restaurant

Last night my partner and I tried a new Mexican Restaurant located next to Summer Breeze on Soi Sansabai. The chef is from Mexico City, so this is REAL Mexican food. In my opinion it was excellent.....best by far that I have had in Patong. Kurt, my partner, also thought it was great. I give it four and a half stars out of five. I sure hope they make a go of it. Oh, the name is Banana Sombrero, but may change to Banana Taco. At any rate, give it a try if you like Mexican food. Also, extremely inexpensive.

Might have to give that a go today, thanks Bill for the heads up, as have seen it there for a little while but never remembered to go try it.

It has only been open for a few days so thats why I think you missed it. I tried it 2 days ago. Except for nachos and tacos I dont have much experience, I had my first Fajitas there.

I will be back!

Had a respectable fajita there today. Unfortunately I had to take it “go home” so it was a bit soggy when I made it back. Also missed the guacamole and perhaps a bit more taste (hotter!).

Too bad they close at 11 as I’m still looking for a good late night grub place.

Thumbs up Good food last night

After reading Bill's post yerterday I decided to go round and give it a try out.Bill saw me go in and followed me.I don't know much about real mexican food so Bill told me what he liked.I ordered one dish of Enchillata and also ordered a Burrito.BIG MISTAKE.

When the first plate came out there were two Enchillatas heaped up with fillings and rice and dips.It was a meal on its own.Next thing out is the Burrito dish. Not one but four beef filled rolls the size of jumbo spring rolls with their own dip.

By the time I had finished them off I was like Mr Creosote out of Monty Pythons.

I liked the food and I can agree with Bill.It is dirt cheap.I had two bottles of Tiger and two meals and the total bill was 380 Baht.It does not get better than that. The young owner was there and I had a chat with him. They are just starting out and it will take a bit of time to get stream lined but it is worth a visit.
