no visa for gf
my gf got denied her visa yesterday
i didnt get the report they gave her yet, btu from what she read to me, sounded all about her financial status and whatnot
a little confusing because she went to embassy last week and they told her what papers she needed and didnt need, got her applicaton transfered at the embassy and never asked fro her bank statements but all that came back was financial excuses
i felt pretty bad for her, she was distraught. i just tried to put a positive spin on it and let her know we'd find a way. i remember her mentioning a "guarantee" at the beginning stages so when i get the conclusion report i will see if i can leave a guarantee, dont care what the price is since id get it back. only other option is to marry her and bring her in on my work permit. im not against it, and if she came to Canada and things went well i would have doen that this summer anyways but i just wanted her to get to see Vancouver before we dove into that. oh well, i got my work permit denied last year and recieved it later, so not end of the world.

What a bummer, sorry to hear that. Hope you quickly find another alternative!
Strange that for a 4 year relationship a tourist visa get's declined. No words, it's unbelievable.

Sorry to hear that. Not sure about US/Canada, but it seems common that they reject the first time you apply. Just make her apply again, and it will probably work out.........

Sorry to hear this Paul.
This was something you both really looked forward to.
Hope it will be a go next time you apply.
BTW is a fiancee visa an option for you.

Sorry for you but been there, got the T-shirt myself. Maybe like the UK they were already up to the quota allowed for that month. At least it sounds like you will know what let you down and so can rectify it for the next attempt. UK Consul aren't kind enough to tell you where you went wrong when they fail a visa application...nightmare :-( and being married is no guarantee of improving the chances of the visa being granted...in fact for me it made things worse. She got a holiday visa no problem but a year later when we were married and tried for a settlement visa...that got refused. I had to get the Queens' representative from where I was from to overrule the British Consul.
Maybe Canada is different....hope so for your sake....and hers because it's awful for her to have to go through the whole process and interviews all over again.

yeah, they gave her a list of reasons that visa was refused, which i thought was prettyy good on their part
no interview. applied one day and go in and recieve decision next
i have been told that it is easy for me to bring a wife in on my work permit, but was also told by embassy in Canada i can sponsor someone also, and that didnt seem to work out

Jeeeez, that's incredible. For UK when I did it a few years ago the lady has to be interviewed at the Embassy in Bangkok...more like interrogated...about your relationship and intentions...and there was a 2 or 3 month waiting list just for that bit.

What a bad news Paul. I guess you follow the advice of the other and prepare all paper work and let her appliy again.
I feel sorry for both of you!

It's quite depressing for the Thais when they see the ease with which we appear to move around the world :-(

Sorry to hear that things haven't work out , but was surprised that they didn't want to see bank statements etc. I would have thought that was the main area they looked at , ie. does she have sufficient funds and would she be likely to try and "overstay" for economic reasons.
Hope all goes well when she reapplies.

Sorry to hear that Paul, and I am sure with a few strings pulled you can overcome this second time of asking but it must be terrible for Ao.
I applied for Gee a few years ago, did everything as advised by Ian but didn't include copies of my telephone bills, he told me to but I was too lazy to include them, as I telephoned using my office phone, home phone and mobile and it was a lot of statements to illustrate we had be in contact for the previous 3 months and really I thought I had everything else and knew better (wrong)
However they did give us a reason, unlike for LOS and did say rejected but please appeal with telephone bills and they would reconsider favourably. Never did as moved here instead!!
Keep my fingers crossed for you, so make sure you re-apply soon as the loss of circulation is already turning my fingers a real unhealthy white!!

no she does not have sufficent funds and one of the reasons given was she was not guaranteed to return after her stay
i just dont understand why they didnt request her bank info, and the translator for embassy had her check off that she would eb sponsored and i confirmed by e-mail i could sponsor and wrote it in my invite letter but every reason we got back was the financial aspect
again, we will work it out and get it somehow. only 1st try

Sorry to hear Paul. I'm sure Ao is very upset, but be upbeat about a better result when you reapply.
Now you know what is needed, things have to go in your favour next time.

thats a disappointment paul, and not very fair in the scheme of things imho.
a long term relationship which many on the board could only see positives from your submissions and personal experience of you and your gf.

...well, realistically you know the only way to have the slightest chance of leading a normal life with a girl who can't travel the world. It's really a shame that governments take away the chance to test this in real life before you step into that boat.

Yeah, just for a holiday visa...
Sorry to hear it Mark, I'd be pretty pissed off myself if I was her (or you).
I presume its just a holiday Visa she was applying for?

my thoughts exactly
i was trying to be prudent but after knowing the girl for 4 years, if the only way is to marry her, thats what i will have to do
if it wasnt for the cultural differences and her adjusting to a foriegn land, it wouldnt be such a leap of faith
so if nothing else works, looks like i may be renting a villa and having a big party mid-february if people are around in Phuket

If you'll guarantee to be her sponsor I think it's your bankaccount they want to see a statement from to make sure that you have enough funds to take care of her whilst she's in Canada!
Only if they have substantial funds of their own or can prove they have a respectable job with high wages they wont need anyone to sponsor them if they go on holidays!
