Of course parking on private property is fair game for charging but..

If you check many of the hotels actually own a portion of the front of thier hotel / roadside.. So they own the land and someone else is charging thier customers to use thier own land !!! Similar tale in soi sunset where valhalla had a % right to the soi due to land lease yet they charge parking fees but do the farangs who have a % and had to pay a large sum for that actually get anything ?? Course not.

And as already pointed out, the soi is both private (when collecting parking fees) and public (when collecting parking fines !!).. I mean it can be both ways can it ??

Secondly they are very blunt and rude.. One time when the street parking fees were new, one "Oi'ed" my brother who can be a hot head.. It wasnt what was said it was the way it was said.. My Bro turned round and told them not to talk to him like a dog and they immediately pulled a blade and went at him, he was still gonna set to with the knife holder when his GF pulled him out. He was back at my place to grab a baseball bat and go get in trouble and I had to calm him down and not let him get ****ed over.. Its the attitude thats the problem as much or more so than the fees.

Back to Sansabai, I do not mind being charged 40 baht to park if the road is private but i tell them everytime they should fix the HUGE pothole.

If it was a private road in Europe you could easily sue for any damage to your vehicle.

I wonder if they treat car owners differently? They always seem quite courteous to me but I agree being confronted with a sh1tty attitude will anger anyones blood.

How do the guys running the show get permission to operate ?? presuming that the do. Is it the guys with the most attitude scaring off the opposition ?? Don't like to use the word mafia but maybe this is something close to it.
