Indian Cuisine / Restaurant
Here's the challange!
Were big fans of Indian food. Where are the best Indian Restaurant's in Phuket? We tried 3 Indian Restaurants when we stayed in Patong; Ali Ba Ba's near the Holiday Inn, another one located in a side street off Bangla Road and one in the side street of Patong O Top Market. Does anyone know of any gem's hidden away? Coming over Feb./March 08, so looking for something good. Doyley.

Thanks MrDK,
went to your link and I think the restauranta I mentioned are all covered. I think coming from the North-West of England, we've been spoiled with excellent curry house's. We've got Liverpool, Manchester, Bolton etc - All have Indian Quarters'. I've read with interest on your thread a mention of Ali BaBa's indian. If i had to personnaly rate this myself out of 10, I'm afraid it would get a low 1. the food was terrible. Cold, Bland and food came at different intervals. Also the price - It was the dearest meal we had on our 21 night stay. Thanks Anyway! Doyley.

Unsure of hotel name but .....
Nice one on right hand side of beach road a few hundred metres north of Bangla Road, ate there a few times on last visit and there were people of indian decent from various countries eating in the restaurant which was part of a hotel complex with italian and other restaurants.......look for an illuminated artwork at the enterance and a circular cocktail type bar just behind

yes think it was the Horizon hotel and prices were about 50% of decent UK indian, so still an enjoyable bargin and funny when the thai girl says this food is too hot for me.......revenge comes at a price!

Doyley there isn't any, forget it.
A good curry from the UK has been altered to suit the british taste buds and you will not find such a thing here, the price is always a lot more expensive than Thai food and service and when they bring certain dishes, well its Thailand!!!

Dodge is right....forget it ! I've been here 3 years and tried them all and there isn't one that comes close to a UK curry. Even tried the new one on beach road called Tantra, who claim their chef is from UK....absolute bull cr@p the food was sh1te and over priced...
There really is a market out there for someone who can bring a couple of UK Indian chefs over....

I know the number one Uk dish is supposed to be an indian curry, but do people really come to Thailand and miss having a Ruby for 2 weeks or so??
Crikey I've been here 2 years and havn't longed for one yet!!! I also do not miss anything in particular foodwise from the UK, a lot of things of course you can buy here and the rest I've sort of forgotton about. Crunch brought me over a jar of Branston and I'm really enjoying muching it with my cheese and ham baguette pretending its a ploughmans lunch, but never get a strong hankering for any particular UK foodstuff.

microwave curries in TOPS supermarket are the same as back home - w00t!
The Indian palace in Karon is not bad, nice food but service is a bit slow.

I have only had Indian food twice in my life so I don't have much to go on. But, while in Phuket, I asked this British/Indian man, that I met at the SB bar, if he knew of a good place in Patong. He recommended this little restaurant inside Junceylon. I gave it a try and was glad I did. The garlic Naan bread was really tasty with my red curry beef dish (forgot the name - Chef's recommendation) was also really good.

There's a new one opened on the Beach road about 100m south of Rock City...same side...called Tantra. No idea what it's like inside.
Signboard outside says "London Pub Indian Restaurant"!

One of the indians is a specialist northen indian cusine. Another is a specialist tandoor style cookery. If you order this food in the restaraunt they are both excellent. But cant be arsed remembering the names, have written them in another thread before.
