Computer Baloney

Tried to send an email to Gee's sister in the states but everytime I send one, they get returned. First couple of times I must admit I didn't read the error report but this time I did and it said:-

'Comcast requires that all mail servers must have a PTR record with a valid Reverse DNS entry. Currently your mail server does not fill that requirement.'

Just wondered, with so many clever 'puta guys on here, what the feck is that all about, could anyone sort of explain to an 'puta iliterate?? and is it something I can alter, or maybe should alter?

Thanks for that MrDK, they seem to have quite a few different error message already pre-answered, hadn't come across this before with any other site. Are they being major over cautious or should this be something we all should do with our sites??

Now all I've got to do is a google or wiki or search to find out who the PTR are, as if it had said PSB (pet shop boys), I'd have known which record to buy next time I'm in Dandy's!!!!

The reason is simple Comcast sucks big time, I am a customer as they are the only choice in this area, and emails from LOS are returned to sender about 20% of the time no matter what I do. The only way around it is using something like gmail from LOS as it seems most in country isp's get blocked by the black list squad at Comcast. I and a bunch of others have tried working with them to fix this and it works for a while, but never for very long.

At a quick glance seems like it is an anti-spam measure your mail provider is not meeting.

Solution: Associate your email account with a Gmail account. Then send it using the gmail server.

Send a message via ICQ to Nicke
Many ISPs only allow its own network to use the mail server, so when using it from Thailand you cant.

For dedicated servers like this one you usually need to check your email before you can send out any email.

Aaah thank you.

I could receive the emails, just couldn't send them.

I thought it would work there, cause it's simple POP and SMTP server.

Comcast computer Nazis block entire ISP's at a time, for sending spam, or so they say. I have been fighting with them for years to clear a friends email with only limited success.
