Picture of Patong. Where did it come from?

Browsing internet, I came across this View of Patong.

Patong+map.jpg (image)

I'd love to use it without the pin-points he's added.

Does anyone know the origin of this snapshot? Or of any similar?

I believe that it originated from Helicam Asia. I think its being used by some guys associated with the company who are also selling some real estate around Patong, hence the reference markers.
I doubt that you could legally use it without permission, though.

Very nice picture indeed!

Where's that famous road to kamalala, is it the one on the left through the valley?

No, its out of shot on the far left. The road follows Patong Beach as you see it in the photo and follows the coast until it reaches Kamalala

Being in a similiar field of work as helicam other then that im not flying RC choppers, im amazed about this idea. It really gotta be a great business, even more curious of how much this kind of equipment would cost.

Anyone got a ballpark figure on this?

Check out this link for Helimod a shop in Phuket town that sells remote controlled choppers. Not sure if the stuff they sell is in the same league as the ones Helicam use but should give you some idea of costs in Thailand.

Thanks, but the equipment that would be pricy would probably not be the chopper itself. Surely for their cameras they gotta have some way to transmit the picture to the ground so they can see what they are actually taking a picture of. Somehow i dont think bluetooth is gonna cut it here
