Platinum BUPA coverage
this may sound absurd but i really didnt look at what was covered in my gf's insurance
i figured just get the best coverage
now, if she wanted to go to Bumrungard for a battery of tests for her heart, would something like that be covered

Bupa top end.. Should be..
To be honest even mid end should cover any necessary work within Thailand. The top tier is really the international charges.

Is it a pre-existing condition, prior to cover commencement date? if so then answer is no. Beware they can add exclusion clauses that cover a whole lot more than just one previous condition.
Client suffered a slipped disc during pregnancy, they excluded anything gynalogical!!!

This is common practise for medical insurers, in the event of a claim they complete a medical and take a look at any medical records they can get.
Certain conditions, also will have a history and will have surfaced before, it was the main thing I hated about selling medical insurance in the UK, and would avoid as best as possible at every enquiry.
As the salesman you could only ask the given questions, the insurers would never offer a free medical prior to cover or prior to a claimable event, as they like the pre-existing get out clause. Then of course it always became the salesman that was at fault in the clients eyes for not telling them before they had paid x,000 pounds.
You could never argue the non-payment as they always had the upper hand with private medical background knowledge, to kill off any attempt at arguing, and of course you didn't have adequate medical knowledge to challenge them.
They can decide to not pay out because of non-disclosure of an ailment that has absolutely nothing to do with the claimable event, as non-disclosure forfeits cover.
At least you are with one of the better medical insurers with BUPA, just wish you all the best.

Did you get outpatient coverage? That is coverage for tests and stuff when you are not actually admitted to the hospital. Not sure if it would cover medicine.
Also you might want to check around a bit. Bumrungard while having the rep, isn't necessarily the best private hospital for everything.
BTW, if you buy the Chivawattana card from the one of the Bangkok Hospital group (ex. Bangkok Phuket Hospital), you get discounts and stuff at any of their hospitals. I've been told the Samitivej Hospital Sukhumvit is as good or better than Bumrungard. You might want to give them a call: SAMITIVEJ SUKHUMVIT HOSPITAL
Chivawattana MyHealth Membership

yes, she has the most outpatient overage available
so she needs to really get a full done up on her heart, so the outpatient coverage will cover that?

Sounds like it is something that could be covered, but who knows if they will as Bernie was pointing out. Think all this is best directed to Bupa. They've been quite easy to deal with in my experience.
If they don't cover it, then consider getting a discount/membership card for the hospitals. They treat you better, you get free stuff, and the discounts will likely have it paying for itself very fast.
