Walk in Hotel Prices
Hi All,
Just wondering if its cheaper to walk in of the street and enquire about Hotel prices once in Pats or is it usualy cheaper to book and pay on the internet sites?
Thought you might get a good deal if they are not busy. Going in April
thanks Fireysteve.

Hi Steve;
Standing in the hotel foyer with your luggage is not negotiation from a position of strengh.
IMO the hotels that are big enough to have an internet site know when their quiet times are and offer good deals in advance for those periods.
That said, there are lots of small hotels and lodges in Pattaya that don't do much business on the internet and can only be found by walking around the streets.
You might consider booking the first couple of nights on the net and then having a hunt around once you arrive. April is low season so you won't end up homeless no matter what happens.

By "Pats" I take it you mean Patong ??? (most BM's would think Pattaya).

Patong is pretty busy at the time you are going to be there so there might not be too much to choose from and you could be stuck walking around for a bit. Better to do as Minder has suggested. Make sure you book your return airport transfer well in advance if you are leaving on 12 April, and allow extra time to get out of Patong also.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the replys about the walk in prices. Oops for calling Patong Pats, is there an Abreviation for Patong?
Hi Faulty, Yeah ive got the first six days covered but about day 2 I was going to walk in to a few places that ive heard of on this site ( without bags) and try my luck for accom for the remaining 6 days that i have.
I think i might take the advice given and book the last 6 nights on the net. Couldn't realy be bothered having to walk around in 35 + deg heat looking for accom when I can do it from home.
Thinking about Lamai Inn or Hotel, at least they are Girl friendly ,cheap and close to the fun zone.
Thanks again Fellas

Many hotels charge full price when you book directly with them, but offer lower rates via their agents.
If you book online line via a third party, often you get cheaper rates, and breakfast thrown in.
If you plan to bring back guests make sure you book a room for two adults.
Once you shortlist your preferred hotels by location and amenities, you can direct e-mail each one to clarify points and inquire about joiner policy etc.
Then book via the agent offering the best deal.

I remember my first time to Patong and LOS last May. It was with my gf at the time from Shanghai China. Was in Shanghai for a week and Patong/Bkk for just under a week. We booked a room in Patong in advance with the plan of just walking around and finding another one while we were there. While in Patong, we never really had time to look at other hotels so we found ourselves calling Asiarooms.com several days in a row to extend our stay. Was somewhat of a hassle as sometimes we were in the room and was not even confirmed that we could stay yet.
In short, looking for hotels while there definitely works for some, but not others. I now book my flights and hotels in advance and the rest is up in the air. No sense in planning any more than that in LOS because very tough to keep a schedule.
Have fun!

Walk Ins
I've found that walking in works maybe for a couple nights stay but for 6 nights in a row can be difficult. Most hotels because of reservations can't fill every room every night but in high season there may not be an opening.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the info, def will book next 6 days in advance. I dont want any dramas when im there as its supose to be a holiday, and I know what i'd rather be doing with my time than walking around looking at Hotels getting frustrated. looks like the Lamai Hotel for me they seem to get good feedback and pretty handy location.
thanks again Bm's

Have only ever stayed at 2 hotels in Patong.
On both occasions I asked the manager, "Is it cheaper to get a room if I walk in or go on the internet?"
He said, "Internet."
