The hotels use to have safeboxes in the reception. And the girls have to leave their ID-card in the reception before they go to your room. So there is almost never problems with bargirls stealing from you. And as long as you pick up a girl from a bar you know where to find her.I have heard of someone getting problems by picking up girls from the streets, but usually there is no problems.
As long as you treat them with respect and pay them their 1000 bath every day you will have no problems.
Hav fun and enjoy your stay.

The majority of girls are pretty honest....for very bad story I've heard, I've heard 10 good ones and that doesn't even include people who have no story to tell...(hence good).
However always be prepared in advance for meeting the bad apple...

Better Safe Than Sorry.
My experiences as far as trusting BGs in my room have been 99% positive. However , I've always been a firm believer in an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So, I always have keyed locks on my bags and a combination lock on the one with cash or valuables in it. Also, I prefer traveller's checks as they are insured for theft if you keep track of the numbers and report it.
When I take a girl to the room, I am careful and keep enough cash in my pocket to pay her, but not a lot more. If I am with her for a few days, then I am not as paranoid, because you get a feeling of whether you can trust or not, as far as money goes. Most girls would never steal.
However, twice in Bangkok, things happened to me. Once, it was only a nice shirt that she took. I let her wear it one day, and she gave it back to me the next. But when I left, it was gone. No big deal, but I don't think I would have trusted her with money. I never trusted her and was very careful.
Last April, I picked a girl up on the street in BKK, something I always advise against, but it is a case of "Do as I say, not as I do." We chatted for awhile and I got a weird vibe from her. I had to get something out of my bag and she watched me go through it. But I shielded it from her view when I put the lock on it and threw it in the back of the closet where it was hard to reach. Then I went to take a shower. Because I had a suite with 2 rooms plus a bath, it was not possible to see her from the bathroom. I took a long shower. When I came back, she was in bed waiting. I looked in the closet, because I was suspicious. The bag was not where I had left it. Upon examination, I could see that she had tried to force the bag open, had got it open enough to get her fingers in, and had pulled out some slips of paper that were about the size and shape of bank notes, some of which were shredded by the zipper and still partially sticking out of the bag. I confronted her and she denied it. It was obvious that she panicked when I turned the shower off and quickly returned, and she didn't cover up her attempt well. Had she been able to get her hand in all the way and remove my $500 new digital camera, then I am sure she would have been long gone by the time I got out of the shower. The ID she left at the desk wasn't a standard kind of ID card and may not have even been real. Even if it was and the police caught up with her, I may have not still been in BKK to pursue the matter and she would have made up a story and denied stealing.
Best to be careful. But in both cases, I felt uneasy about these girls. Instincts about people are often correct. Also not all hotels require girls to leave ID at the desk. Sometimes I thought I was being too paranoid, but now I am glad that I was always careful.

I have heard of theft while people has been sleeping (without bg). So always lock from inside when you sleep. Also friends have lost passport or mobile phones when they were out during the daytime, likely someone of the hotel staff but if you cant prove that the police dont do anything.
I never had any problems with theft myself but it happens sometimes.
And to make things worse, Safety boxes at reception is not always safe either, some poor staff may try to steal from there too, but still safer than leaving in the room. What I like best is private safetyboxes in the rooms were you can set your own pin code.

I was stolen twice, but never by a girl!
First time in Chiang Mai, where they took our bag, while we were sleeping with all our money, cc pasports.
Second time in Koh Samui! I just left my d-camera to load for one hour, and it was gone!
Both times organised by hotel-staff!
Be carefull to leave your credit card in the hotel-safe!
I heard storys about people, who went on a trip, they took his cc out of the safe, went shopping and then put the cc back, so no complaint was filled, and at home they had the pleasant suprise....

For the credit card I have a separate "Credit-card-Safe". If someone try to open this safe, the card is destroyed for ever. I think you get such a little safe from Amex!!

Im getting scared
Have put out to tender to Group 4 and Securicor to secure all my assets in LOS
Seriously guys take the same precautions as you normally would at home, the risk I reckon is far greater in your home country than LOS, if the UK is anything to go by

Hi etv
The cc safe is a little bit larger than the cards. You can put inside the safe 3 or 4 cards. It is closed with a combination lock. If someone try to open with the wrong lock (after 3 times) inside the safe similar like ink destroys the card. This also if someone try to get the card with violence.
I bought this safe ten years ago as a member of AMEX. If you call to Amex perhaps they can give you more information.
