My wife and I went to the British embassy in Oslo today. I have promised to take her to London for shopping before we go to Thailand in March, so then she needed to apply for a “6 months multi-entry visa” to the UK. Sent in the visa-application online at
visa4UK :: Welcome for two weeks ago, and made an appointment at the embassy for today, as I knew I wouldn’t have time before.
Received then an email with information, and a list of papers she needed to enclose with the application; prove of job or student in Norway, bank-accounts, house or apartment in Norway, marriage certificate, passport , etc………………. It also said that we had to pay NOK 1700,- (10.000 Baht) for the application.
We arrived for our appointment, and the woman there asked if we had with us a printed application, photo, marriage certificate, and if we were going to travel to the UK together. I said that we had not booked tickets yet as we were not sure when to go, but yes I would go with her. She then told us to come back two ours later to pick up the visa. I ask about the fee, and the woman told us that since I was a Norwegian citizen and the applicant was married to me, then we didn’t have to pay, it was free.
Two hours later we picked up her passport with a “UK Entry Clearance” stamp inside, valid to 30.July 2008.
The service at the British embassy was outstanding.
We arrived in Oslo 10 o’clock and flew back to Bergen at 4. Only 6 hours in Oslo to get her the visa she wanted.
