$2962.79 Phone Bill W.t.f. ???

before my uncle (slampay) and i went to LOS i called my phone compay to change my plan to get a cheaper rate while in LOS. I told them when I will be there what i needed the phone for blah blah blah, I was told for $5.99USD a month I can get this plan that will allow all calls to be $1.29 a minute.

So today I opend my bill and was expeting about $600-$700 bill because since ive been back home ive made a few calls to LOS..... and to my SURPRISE my bill was $2962.79 (thats not a typo) apparently the plan i thought i got and the plan they gave me were 2 differents plans i was being charged $4.00 a minute.

So of course i called the phone company told them the problem she said i could have gotten a plan for $3.99 a month and be charged $0.26 a minute now im MAD. they wanted to take $500.00 of the bill for the mistake which i didn't go for so they have to send my complaint to the managers and they will get back to me in 7-10 days....... more to come on this

anyone else with this problem?

or can anyone top that mobile phone bill?????

$2962.79.... what is your highest???????

Hey Brandon, did you have to call a janitor to your office after you opened your bill?

Is that U.S. dollars ??!

No, seriously. Let me know what your NEW phone # is.

Call me later o.k.?(collect)....I gotta go buy some A.T.T stock.

I learned a while back never to use my cell phone while travelling. It doesn't matter what kind of plan you have, the roaming charges will kill you.

I dont remember what it was now but 6ish years back I had to carry a business phone that rang non stop (it was a PITA but only way to get away from work).. The bill for that was multi 1000 EUR.. Then again we used to have massive comms costs back then.

My mate had one in 2006 for £777 or about $1444 for a two week holiday.
The phone company was charging him £1.30 a minute to phone the UK so he got his gf to phone him thinking it was free for him but he was still being charged £1.10 a minute to receive a call.

The OP must have had a higher credit limit than I. 55555

A couple of years ago, I bought the "latest and greatest", INTERNATIONAL cellphone, from Sprint. Along with it, their Int'l. plan that allowed unlimited calls to/from Thailand, for $0.25 per minute.

The phone was useless, in much of the Isaan area, to which I traveled. It worked OK, in towns and cities.

After a couple of weeks usage, the service was interrupted!

Using a "land line" from my Phuket hotel, I finally managed to contact Sprint. Or rather, I was able to contact a Sprint voice computer!!!!!

Eventually (several pain in the @ss calls later), I was able to talk to a customer service representative, I found out that my current balance was around $1300. And they had terminated service, pending my payment!

They confirmed that my plan was set at $0.25 per minute...but, the roaming and extra charges applied by DTAC (or Thai company), had increased the rate to around $8.00 per minute! Fvck, I was MAD!

Sh1tcanned that idea, and purchased a Thai cellphone and simcard. Using the prepaid cards now, and I've been delighted, ever since!

Ohhhh the costly lesson's learned! 55555

OK. Now, let me tell you about a couple of foxy go-go girls I wound up with, one night. Well, it seems..... NEVERMIND!

If I call Asia I buy phone cards in the local China town. They tend to have good phone cards since so many people call relatives back in Asia. I bet most China towns around the world are the same.

just go to any store24 and buy the INC card
it is red with yellow writing
you will get great rates with that

I would like to have a cell for the next two weeks I have left in Patong. I won't use it much and god knows when I'll be back. What's the best/cheapest way to go?

I agree. If i have to make a call (I mean really have to) I use the hotel phone, but it has to be dire. I have a DTAC sim card here and it costs 5 baht to send an SMS to England and Germany. Would be better in the long run.

Nearly all phone shops have second hand models they have taken as trade ins. Look around, see what you want, buy it + simcard + credit. Jobs done.

I bought a low-end Nokia for about 1400 Baht that came with a SIM card. I bought it at the cell phone store in Robinson's department store in Phuket town(on the first floor near the travel place). To recharge it, I buy 1-2-Call pay-as-you-go cards at 7-eleven etc. It is a very cheap way to go...much much cheaper than roaming and you can text etc.

I recently spent 3 weeks in Singapore slumming around...I decided to buy a tri-band phone so I can use it (almost)anywhere in the world(Nokia Misic Express). I found out that it is cheaper to call long distance with a pay-as-you-go SIM card than to use either the hotel phone or a long distance phone card. The SIM card is very cheap too. When I got to Australia a couple weeks ago I did the same thing...I bought a SIM card and made lots of long-distance calls and got a great deal(for $30AUD I got $180 worth of talk time). From now on when travelling I'll be buying a SIM card wherever I go as it seems to be a much better way to go in the last few places I've been. The only drawback is keeping track of all those little SIM cards.

Just buy a second sim and bung it in your phone when you are out here. Alternatively as stated above Nokias run B1401900 for a basic model. Who needs the 25k one I saw in Robinson's today. Sounds like the phone company Lub U Lang (distance) time!!

There seems to be no limits on the international phone cost raking...Im with Optus in Aus.
Mum cals to see how much 1 minute costs and then calls back and says ,"FREE!"
We talk for 10 minutes and MY phones newly purchased $50 disappears and I later find out that , somehow, Im paying for the call!
Thai Nokia $30 . Sim $10 . Calls 3 baht a minute. peace of mind...PRICELESS
