Its True.. Only In Thailand

Short true story:

Guy meets English woman and marries her 3 months later. Guy is a bit of a loser and workshy, woman is fairly well off financially.
14 months later wife dies of heart attack and wills everything to nw husband who now has 4 bed house in Sussex, UK and a pot of cash.

After a sutable period of mourning (2 months) guy goes on holiday to Thailand and meets BG.
Goes back to UK and 1 month later goes back to LOS and marries TGF. 13 days later he takes her out on Jetski and suffers heart attack, dies in water.

Thai wife now resident in 4 bed house in Sussex and is very happy with Thai boyfriend as they have enough cash not to work. That and the rent from the 2 Thai ladies who reside their also seems to have improved their lifestyle somewhat.

How do I know?? Youngest son of original wife works for me and was, along with his siblings, got SFA from the estate.

A typical LOS tale???

Well, could’ve happened anywhere in the world I guess. The Thai girl got lucky and now the Brit son is bitter as his mom left him out of the will. Fail to see how this is a "typical LOS tale".

An interesting course of events though.

Exactly (sort of, as it was the original wife who left her son out to dry.)

But say the “loser” guy married another Brit --- or any other nationality for that matter --- after her death and then suffered a heart attack. Same course of events. The son would still end up with “SFA”.

Ok then perhaps I'm missing something essential. But how is it possible under "Thai" law? Maybe more to this story than previously disclosed?

sounds like it is taking place in UK, not thailand
in the states if a father didnt have a will, 100% of his possesions would go to his wife

I take it he spent all his "pots of cash" on the wedding/fun/Thai wife, as in the UK any surviving children and his wife are entitled to equal shares of any moveable estate?

While it may never have been the intend to leave the son out of the inheritance, it on the other hand could have been.

I have a problem with governments that get involved in dividing estates, based on their own big-brother rules. Similar laws exist in Denmark. Don't know the details, but I have been informed after my brothers passing that I am (by Danish law) entitled to some parts of his and his wife's estate. Absolutely crazy and obviously I will decline anything that I could have coming.

If there is 1 child half of the heritage goes to that child. If 2 children 2/3 must go to those children, and so on. Not sure if wife can inherit from husband, only use of assets (house etc.) but should need to check that out.
