A few scenarios, advice please...
Ok here we go.......
If and it is a big if........ If i decided to marry my tgf one day how does the visa work, is it 400,000bht and 40,000 showing per month? What would then happen if we decided to "lease" a guesthouse, would i be entering thailand on a business visa or a marriage visa? What would happen if the guesthouse turned over say 100,000 bht month but only made a profit of 30,000 bht month? (run i hear you say) Where do i also stand on getting a work permit? If we went into a guesthouse as a joint venture (tgf and me) do i still need 4/5/6 other thai nationals as shareholders? I`m starting to confuse myself now!!!!

The Search function should throw up some answers to some of your questions, but no doubt, one of the expats will be able to give you some good advise.

Yes you are confusing yourself ... would keep the marriage and business aspects separate.
Marriage: If you marry your TG you will need to obtain a non-Immigrant O visa in UK (based on your marriage) this will give you 3 months on arrival then near the end of this you can apply for a 1 year extension of stay. You will not be able to use the 400k in the bank (only those using this route at Oct 2006 can continue doing so - except Phuket who will no longer accept this), so in your case you will need a letter from the British Embassy showing you are getting 40k/month as combined (you & wife) income. If its money from your wife she will need show tax returns and if from you money sent into Thailand you;ll have to show supporting documentation. Business: See Home - Thaivisa.com as several options - fastest route is marriage and lots less paperwork! Good Luck.

I think Thai embassies still issue one year visas if you show 400k in Thai bank. E.g. you apply for a new visa outside Thailand each year.
Run the guesthouse in her name instead of starting a company, a lot easier. The lease contract can still be in your name, but taxes and licenses in her name. If you are not married then the company route may be a better way, as you can get visa that way.
