I'll be there for at least a couple of days in the first week of Jan, and it'll be great to meet up with you all.
One thing though - I've been checking out hotels and they're mad expensive that week, the peak week of the year. The one I usually stay at is 1250 low season but they're after 2620 that week! And they say to book up before October or it'll be sold out for sure.
Any of you lads got any lowdown on better hotel deals that week?

Return tickets bought and in hand from 26 December - 3 January. All Hotels are damn expensive during this time..might even decide to stay in Phuket town and not in Patong! and if this keep going on might spend my next new eve holiday in Pattaya and not Phuket!

Looks like I have to spend some time during my short August visit to look for decent and relatively less expensive accommodation for December.

I will show you a place I think may suits you, if you book with them and pay a deposit in August I think you can get a good deal. I guess around 1000 baht/night.

Thanks Nicke. Will meet you at MTB for the above. C&N had hiked their room rates to ridiculous level for December. I guess the advertisements and endorsements made by the BMs (read this IJ!) had the hotel fully booked all the time and this has gone to their head!

Well, Jonny you did it. I stayed (note the past tense) at C&N all the time when I go to Phuket but not this time in December! I guess your enthusiasm and advertisement for the hotel had driven me out of the hotel for this December season. They had raised their rates for December to beyond usual high/peak season price. (I can afford it but I rather spend the extras on drinks and girls). Can't do much about it as I had already bought my flight tickets and now looking for new accommmodation during this period.

I DONE A WALK IN ON A LOT OF HOTELS IN JULY AND ALL OF THEM WERE QUOTING VERY HIGH PRICES FOR CRIMBO...WELL UP ON LAST YEAR..MOST BY 200 BAHT............

I got quoted 1500 Baht for standard room! Even though I am a long time customer. Never mind..its okay. They had lost their customer. Yes C&N is superior to Expat, I had stayed in Expat before. But at the rate it is going I might only go to Phuket during off peak season and for CRIMBO well I will most probably end up in Pattaya from next year onwards. Thank god Mike introduced me to that place. At least I can still celebrate New Year in LOS. There is nothing compared to the celebration in LOS.
