Kamala whats there?

Hi everyone. Hope some of you are having a nice cold beer over there. In the UK we have rain clouds and wind (must stop eating indian curries!)

What is in Kamala. I have stayed in Kata and been there 5 times and want to explore somewhere else on the island. Is it like Kata? need some bars ;0) and somewhere to stay (no Joiner fees). I am into food a lot (cooking it) so want a good market to explore during the day. I have googled it and it does not say much about the place. I was thinking of getting a moped and just riding around a bit. Any idea's for that part of the island.

Cheers

Pm Dodger, and he will give you a view on Kamala (that no one else have). You can also ask LivinLos and he will give you a different view on the same place....

If you ask me, it's a quiet place with an ordinary beach, ordinary bars, ordinary restaurants, ordinary girls and a few good ordinary expats waiting for something to happen

Sorry D-clan, it got to tempting to leave alone

Geir

Take no notice of these ingrates Mr Walker. Kamala is the home of the free and exceptionally brave, we have 54 bars, live band bar and an allnight nightclub with coyotee dancers, plus a new two soi bar area, just filling up with open air dancing go for it bars. Each bar has on average 5 plus girls so plenty to go round, we have bars with massage rooms attached, hole in the wall bars, bars with 20 plus girls and anything goes bars. Restaurants we havn't counted but I've been here 2 years and havn't eaten in them all yet. We have a lively beach scene with even more bars, restaurants, where you can sit and enjoy the sea lapping at your ankles whilst downing your tiger draught.

Hotels and guesthouses from 500 baht a night to 5 star marriots etc. Like anywhere though its the company, the atmosphere and if you are happy and looking for fun, you'll find it.

It doesn't compare to patong for all out in your face stuff, no go go's, but it knocks Kata into a cocked hat.

Lets us know when your coming and we would be happy to give you the four D's tour!!!! although two days notice is required for Dennis as he is getting on a bit, silly old sod!!!

When there's a choice of using brawn or brain, we chose brain and signed up for annual membership of the KBG, farang entry price and just have to join in the odd burn up or armed hold up once in awhile.

I like Kamala in the day, its a great beach and much less crowded than Patong.

I usually get a Tuk Tuk to take me there and agree to pay him when he picks me up later in the afternoon at about 4pm.

Why don't you do that and have a bit of an explore in daylight so you get your bearings etc.

Its a nice change from Patong and a bit more compact than Kata and Karon.

Best wishes

Drew

This could be a business opportunity for a BM!
You could tours of Kamala like they do in Hollywood of famous and glamorous people. But instead of "in that mansion" or "he has 20 cars" it could be "the person who has a scrapyard of beercans" or " the house that the ladyboy has came out of belongs to"

I think it has potential as there are many celebrity hunters on this board who would take this kind of trip

"The infamous and old farts spotting tours" conducted by Dodgey Enterprises. Tour includes a stop at Mr D's genuine gem shop & dead fish emporium which is conveniently located in the beer garden and the Kamala headquarters of HHplc where you can choose from the full range of RTG's

OK. thanks for all the info. Guess I will spend the day up there and book in a 1500 baht hotel to see what the night is like. then go back to Kata is its not what i'm looking for. Markets and food in the day beer and girls at night sounds about right. will do what my web name says and go and a walk about. Thanks again for the Info. Off to chiang mai first to see songkran then down south for another week.

Cheers
Will be in patong for 2 night so will pop in to MTB and have a few on the first night.

Who is the fourth D? I can only count to 3.

Ah, Dennis... Forgot that one.

I cant add anything to this thread, havent been to kamala much except for Dodger's place and his children pool. Both Dodger's place and pool is excellent.

And yeah, learned diving in Kamala aswell and got my PADI Open Water there. And won lawn bowling with my team mate Trent.

I've heard it is very dangerous. Bike gangs robbing and shooting at you. Everyone lives in gated estates for security. I go the long way around to Surin.

Yes SirD and we still put satangs under our pillows at night and the tooth fairy comes.

Gollum worked in Lala way too often as a child!!!

As for Nicke's Lawn Bowls comment, methinks it might be time to start arranging another world series challenge match, I'll get my boys out tonight for a little jog between the beer garden and black cats for a start!! let these Sweedies get one single halved game and they are overflowing with confidence, lower peg time!!

I think Denver & Dodger should have a monthly scheduled tour of Kamala for anyone interested. You just need to bring a gallon of Rosso to get on the tour.
