Scars - Lifetime souvenirs from LOS?

I was just reading the antibiotics thread and thinking, that's weird ... some wounds...mosquito bites, accidents at the
swimming pool, falling out of bed drunk ... there are a couple of them I got in LOS.

They all share the same history...while in LOS it takes donkey years to heal, once back they never really dissappeared.

Normally my skin heals little wounds very quickly, not these ones though.

Same for me.

Motorbike burns...the achilles below my right calf reads like a trip log.

First tour, second tour, third tour...etc. 55555

Never heal in LOS, and takes a long time at home.

i've done some stupid things at home. most recent was getting tanked up ,then running down the tube escalator to catch a train...result...falling over bruising my back quite badly.(15 mins after that pic on my avtar was taken) could have been a lot worse.
in los even tho i'm on the beer every day, trips have been accident free!..........so far.

5555 don't they go every 10-15 min.? What's the rush?

Yes, incidents when tanked up. I remember the last really bad one was about 1.5 years ago still back in the UK.
Came home from the pub and while trying to fit that damn key into the door slot, slipped and scratched my face
very badly sliding down those nice red bricks as they have'em in England.

That was a nice face peeling. I bet if that was done in LOS, I would be scar-faced for the rest of my life.

My Swedish friend is still carrying scars from where his thai g/f caught him being too friendly with another Thai girl. She smashed him over if forehead with a flask type bottle of whisky from the minbar. 15 stitches later he still has the scars and the same thai g/f to talk about it and laugh.

Are you serious? Well, luckily it was only a mini-bar;-)

Still, that girl would be on my never-return list.

worse thing about it...there was no rush!! why i was running like a lunatic god only knows. the bit i failed to mention was as i lay at the bottom in a crumpled heap, a guy came over to see if i was ok..picked me up, then i fell back down again backwards onto the escalator taking him with me!!

That didn't last long .... have you considered making a purchase from Mav?

.... For the most serious cases, I have heard that he is planning the introduction of the "Super Rose" version. Infrared lenses.

Two small nicks on the leg going into a tuk-tuk late at night, the sort of things that would be gone in less than two weeks back home, took about two months to disappear.
A friend of mine was bitten by some bug on the back of his neck, apparently some sort of dangerous bug, the guy renting him a scooter at the time said, you no rent you go hospital, and he was admitted for a couple of days, that bite was still red 8 months later.

Here's a sad story....August 2004.

I'm a keen photographer and I was taking an evening shot of the Bangkok skyline from the rooftop of the Tower Inn in Bangkok (20 floors up, I think).

Anyway, I had the camera set up on the tripod. I stood on a chair to look through the viewfinder.

The back leg of the chair broke!

I kicked the leg of the tripod whilst falling backwards and the camera and tripod tipped over the wall. It fell twenty stories to the ground.

I was so shocked, rushed down to the side alley to see the damage. Thankfully it was a quiet area with no one around. That camera could have killed someone, it would have been like a missile, falling from that height.

There wasn't much left of the camera (new Nikon D70, only 4 weeks old, at that time).

It was only when I got back to my hotel room, still in shock, did I realise that my trousers and sandal were SATURATED with blood. I checked my leg and the blood was pumping from a savage looking gash on my shin!

I must have hit my shin against the iron bench on the roof when I fell. The deep cut on my shin was literally to the bone.

I'd been so shocked that I hadn't felt a thing!

I still have a big scar there, but it could have ended up an awful lot worse....

Joe

I came off a motorbike, didn't feel a thing either.

Ripped up my forearm, elbow and a good chunk of skin off my knee. It scared up in the end...

I fell into a drunken stupor across the doorway of the Islandia hotel and woke up in the morning covered in mossie bites with people stepping over me! Just put on the Tiger balm, and my skin is still like a babies bum!

Last year on my first night i fell in the shower and the girl i was with said "i stay and take care of you holiday"....they never miss a trick!!!!

Thankfuly never hurt myself in LOS but in 2005 I fell out of a tree whilst the wrong side of 9 Stellas and broke my lower leg in 3 places. It used to hurt like hell in the UK, especially in cold weather. Didn't give me any niggles in LOS though which I put down to the climate, although it could have be the Singha and the er, distractions. Back in the UK it started to hurt again so I got them to take the metalwork out and its fine now.

ou know, I was thinking about this and I haven't had any real bad accidents in LOS before this trip. Now I have had a sore ankle, sore elbows, shoulders etc. Oh and shed loads of mossie bites.

Most of my worst "Scars" all come from Europe and most of them were from drunken accidents like jumping out of the Asda's shopping carts and diving into bushes... You know being younger and not very wise at the time.
