Have any BM's had a good luck string tied around their wrist by a Monk for good luck?
I'm in love with a very special lady I met in Pattaya last year.
Yes she's a BG but it doesn't change how how I feel about her.
Her star sign is "Taurus".
I'll be the first to denounce astrology as bs, but was blown away at how accurate her reading was in relation to her description about herself.
Taurus female:
Life Pursuit: Emotional and financial security.
Fits her to a tee.
Anyway, on her last birthday we headed for the nearest What with offerings of food and money.
I bowed down to the Monk and was given blessings and a string which was tied to my wrist.
I still carry this string 11 months later.
As well as a good luck charm it also signifies my GF's birthday.
I'm looking forward to my second string in April.
Have any BM's experienced having a good luck string tied tied to their wrists by a Buddhist Monk?

How accurate her stars are ;-)
My wife had 3 strings around her wrist for the past 2 years. They are unbelievably strong, amazing.
Unfortunately, I had to cut them last year in December before she had an appendix operation. I think I almost broke her heart by doing this.

I usually don't pay much attention to the girls birthday, but come to think of it ..... I think, by far, most of them were born in late April to late May.
....... Fvck ..... my ex was born May 7 and she took most of the money .... fit her to a tee too.

Does that mean you believe in astrology?

No, but I obviously do not have any argument to the contrary.

Don't know about the good luck thing , but i did have one tied around my wrist by a monk in Sa-keo after he spotted my packet of Winnie Blues.
After tieing it on and a wai and some mumblings about something, he pointed at my smokes with a big smile on his face. I obliged him and he sat there and smoked it and then waied again and was on his way. He seemed to think it was a fair trade!

I have one on my right arm for the last couple of years. It was a bright colorful one when new.

The first time I went to "temple" with the GF and got the "splash down and bracelet" thingy, was a bad sort of day.
Later that evening, a truck flung a rock and broke my rental car's windshield. Then, later that night at my hotel, my digi-cam "levitated" off of the dresser and fell to the ground, breaking it. 555555
It seems the "good luck" blessing, had the opposite effect on me.

I had one from the cave temple in Pang nga, a monk put it on. I wore it through the Tsunami.
I was walking towards the beach when the Tsunami came in. Had i left the hotel 1 minute sooner i would have been in the middle of it.

Like ub2yoo's missus, I just can't bring myself to removing it.
It's still very strong after copping much abuse and nearly 700 showers.
I felt proud when I showed it off to a waitress at the White Sands Hotel last year until she rolled up her sleeve to reveal about 15 of them.
I'll be getting my second one next month.

When up country, I've had the white strings and the orange ones by the monks. I believe that any time after three days, you can remove them.
Always got heaps when departing the villiage, as all the Relo's come out to wish you luck and happy journey. I had about 15 on at one time or another.

3 days us farang can remove them, but 7 days for the Thais. Keeping it on for a longer period, I believe is classed as being dirty and looked down upon. Perhaps you should ask your girlfriend?? as I'm no expert, just relaying what I have previously been told.

Good to know D.
I'd hate to be classed as dirty.

Your post played on my mind.
I finally did it.
The string has come off and with no ill effect so far!

Interesting, I'm going to check up on that. I do find it a bit hard to believe.
You know how obsessed these TG's are when it comes to a clean body and clothes. And I've seen many with very old strings.
Good, we're on an important mission here ;-)

Nope, the girl that told me was an Isaan girl, as I said I'm no expert just relaying what I was told. Asked again just now, and her reply was we all look down on someone keeping it on for too long, over 7 days, as we think it is dirty, some people they think 'no problem' but its up to them, I don't care!!!
As i said, ask your girl, she'll tell you her opinion, then go with that.

Hey Dodge
This is what they said at the Buddhist Forum:
"What I heard is you wear them until they fall off, which is usually a long time."
I guess some people might have personal views on it.
Not to worry.
Maybe I was placing too much reliance on charms for luck.
They also said that it's best to have the string placed on the opposite hand to the one you use to wipe your arxx.
Too bad if you're ambidextrous.

Prolly the reason the local girls say it is 'dirty' after about a week! I asked a few about it. Not knocking a Buddha forum CM but is it written by Thai's or Farang? We, Farang, seem to twist Thai things into how we percieve them IMHO. That's just me! I like Pie, chips and gravy so I eat it, then I see the "I only eat Thai grub" man asking for extra chillies in thier red curry and can't eat it. Then trying to explain to the waitress how the food is great and why she is taking a full plate back to the kitchen!!! "Oh and can I have two more bottles of water and some tissues!" - Makes me smile.
Washing, cooking, ar5e wiping etc Hygiene thing to the few Thai's (Male and Female) I have asked about this, more than a "Hey! I been to a temple, look at me" sort of thing you see on your flight back home. If a Thai wants a renewal (Blessing and a new bit of string) they go back to the Wat. I'd rely more on the blessing than the string when out and about on the old motorbike! Parp 55555555
This should be in the "Up to you!" thread as well.
