The "Pie Man"

Anybody remember a guy that was called the "Pie Man"? He used walk around Bangla with a styrofoam cooler selling shepards pies. What ever happened to him? He was such a nice guy (from my druken memory).

There should be another thread of him somewhere, but he is dead now, I dont remember if it was a heart attack or not, 1-2 years ago.

Thats too bad, he was such a nice guy. I can still remember my first trip in 2003 when I met him. I bought him a beer at some no-name beer bar and got some great stories from him.

RIP Pie Man and thanks for the stories...

Funny you should mention that Jonny as i went on a visa run to Ranong a long time ago and he bought the biggest stash of viagra i've ever seen !!! Shared some good stories with me also...... Hope his heart attack wasn't related to all that viagra..

I did a visa run with him to Myanmar and yes he bought heaps of the viagra. No sooner had we got back onto Thai soil when he necked one and straight away made a phone call to his madame and ordered a couple of girls to be at his hotel when we returned. Possibly contributed to his ticker packing in but at least he lived before he died.

Dave was a good guy. He came here ages ago and bought a bar. His gf ripped him off and he ended walking around selling pies an viagra.....
He was taking a rest an early afternoon in Moon Bar on Bangla, and just fell of his stool........At least a "good" way to go.........R.I.P.

Geir

What a story Geir...especially the part where you say his GF ripped him off...

...and then he walked around and sold pies&viagra?

What a way to go at the end...indeed, may he rest in peace!

yeah Dave was one of the true patong/bangla characters.......always a laugh and smile whenever you saw him....and his pies were often just the trick as you were filling up with booze

I reckon that despite disappointments he had a lot a fun in his life

I met dave approx four years ago he was a lovely guy he told me he had got his pension sorted the year before he died. Typical just when you have the good life sorted the big guy takes you away! God bless dave where ever you are i know you will be haveing a good time. Selling pies in heaven is probably a bit easier than in Patong.5555555. i have quit my job and booked three months in phuket, daves death tought me to live life and not wast it!

RIP Mate.

Dear Old Dave passed on hey, Rip mate. He was a nice old bloke wasn't he! Those famous vegie pasties were a ripper with a cold beer too. So ironic that it happened in Bangla, he had become a part of the furniture I guess.
All the best to u pal.

I was speaking to big Dave a couple of hours before he died. I had seen him many time before, but only got speaking to him a couple of weeks before. Strangly I still expect to see him doing his rounds while sitting in MTB or elsewhere even up to my last visit.

Is that guy who does all the balloon models still about with his wife? Clowns scare me!

Talking about being scared by strange men............. is that guy who dresses in the full-on Camo including bandanna. I was always meant to bring my own version, maybe desert camo, so that I could go on a Rambow (!!) piss up. The photo's would of been great!

I distinctly remember Dave telling me that he had switched to the generic red viagra as they didn't make his heart race as the blue ones did, maybe it would still be racing if he stuck to blue. But ask yourself this question, if you have reached the stage in life where you need viargra would you trade a few years of the end of your life to be able to again enjoy the few right in front of you to the full ???

He's still around wearing the same shorts and yellow singlet I reckon he's had for 10 years or more. He's worth a bit I believe so driving home in a Merc sounds about right. He owns several shops in Patong. I was in an internet shop once...he came in sat next to me, said he'd had some bets and was checking the football results on livescore!!
