PLAYHOUSE - Rat-u-thid pee 200 Rd
Formerly known as the Sphinx, Inthemode has recently taken over the Managment of the bar/restaurant/theatre and transformed it.
Myself, Deano, Denver and Duncan popped in last night and met up with ITM, who was the perfect host as always. Nice chairs and tables outside (although watch out the chairs are really heavy), you can watch the cars and people going by but feel a nice distance from them, ITM put a nice covered area with white leather setees, looked a great chill out area for you and your latest spinner!! We had a few towers of Chang, each one holds 3 litres and then proceeded to demolish several plates of gorgeous Tapas. ITM is a reknown chef and every restaurant he has run has always had the best food on the island, the Playhouse doesn't let this past reputation down, the tapas were gorgeous, luckily they stopped coming otherwise I might still be there now!! ITM, showed us round the rest of the building, there is a very nice restaurant on the ground floor, subtle lighting creating a really cozy ambiance, ideal for those romantic meals out and quite a few rungs up the impressing meter from my usual haunts!! First floor there is a theatre,where they stage plays and soon live acts, I had a little walk on the stage and pretended I was in the Palladium, taking my final bow to ear drum shattering applause!!! Top floor they are going to turn into a cooking school, so you can all learn how to make a pad thai and impress her in doors (when you get home from Thailand) I would highly recommend the Playhouse to all, good food, good atmoshere and even a really nice place to stop off for a few cold ones before hitting the Bangla or as an alternative night out, think you will be hard pressed to find many places nicer and with Robert in attendance, a good night is guaranteed!!!

Just adding to Dodgers post. Thanks for the hospitality Rob. I was seriously impressed with what you have achieved with 'Playhouse' and hope you have the success with it you deserve.
The tapas were delicious. Popcorn shrimp. Marinaded ribs, Tuna sushi, Vietnamese spring rolls..........all fantastic. Attentive staff, minamalist decor, subtle lighting and I loved the quirky theatre upstairs. Thanks again for the 9 litres of Chang 'on the house' I had a bit of a wobble on heading off to Soi Sea pearl after that lot! I'll be back. D

Thanks for dropping by the other night.
It was fun drinking beer and seeing who can tell the oldest joke. (mai chob) I'll let you guys know when we really kick it off. I have got to do something about the new see through shirts for the female staff, they don't like them.

Just recalled what that theatre upstairs reminded me of and it was my time in Berlin (6 years give or take a wall coming down!) and it's Mon Cheries........for those of you that may have been there!
Special kind of 'intimate' show in there and yes, I even took my ex! Prolly why she left me! Champagne (Sparkling wine more like) at 150 Deutch Marks (Remember those?) a bottle!

Went along to PlayHouse last night with BillPay and his wife. He took Ying and myself out for her birthday (Thank you very much) and Willy and his missus came along also. Bill's son also joined us.
Walked in, very nice setup, like what Rob has done to the place as it's looking pretty dialed in now. The Tappas was very tasty, especially the tuna which has a light wassabi paste with sesame seeds or something. We ventured upstairs and ate dinner while watching the show. The food was great, I had New Zealand Sirloin with veggies and mash potatoes. 525 baht I think and for the price, would have to say one of the best cooked steaks I've had here and good size also. The show was fun, different which is great as it's a dinner theater cabaret show. After the show, went back downstairs and sat out front which was nice, tried a rejuvinating vodka mandarine and tonic which Rob (Inthemode) was getting us to all sample. My gf and Willy stated that the Margarita's they had were the best they've had in Patong as it tastes like real lemon.... All in all a great night out and would recommend it to anyone. I think the menu and prices seem very fair (Thanks again Bill) and all the food was equisite. Rob is a great host and really made the night for us. Oh, geespot was there and then Sefton and BEEEEEEEEEEEE turned up a little later towards the end of the evening. A great night with some great friends. Try it out!

Our entire group had a great time thanks to the hospitality of Rob. He certainly knows what he is doing. I think it will also be an excellent place to stop by and have a cocktail before going out on the town if you have already had dinner.

Me and Geir went to the models party there tonight (It was a beauty contest at Jungceylon today and this was the party for them), the place looked very nice and perfect for this kind of partys.
Free party food and drinks, entertainment on second floor (the theatre) and lots of people cruising on first floor. Great party. I will be back to taste the menu on a normal day; but here is the photos from today. (With Ead's camera as its slim, but as I never used it before the settings was not optimized, it was in portrait mode during my photos. Sorry.)

In pic #1, it looks like Geir is almost nervous. Nervous smile and doesn't know where to put his hands LOL Why are the other photo's so blurry? Why was your body shaking so much?
