UK TV in Thailand
Hi All
I really miss some of the TV from back home and I need some help in getting to watch it.
Now BBC, CH4, ITV etc have started online but they have software that knows you are not in the UK so it is only for UK residents!!!
I have tried HidemyIP software but I had trouble guaranteeing a UK IP adress.
Any ideas???
Also I have been dowloading stuff off UKNova website but with the DL speeds here it takes ages!
Any more ideas???

Can get BBC Entertainment on my satellite system unscrambled/free - also think its part of True (ex UBC) package - also miss some UK TV - more documentaries and natural history, like you it takes too long to download to make it a viable option.

It cost some money but if you rent a dedicated server in UK you can setup it as a proxy for your traffic.
Swedish TV have expanding their online services alot, I can watch almost everything on internet now. Its great. They keep it online for 30 days.

One of these should do it>>>
Web Proxies from UNITED KINGDOM - UK Web Proxy list
or there's this>>>
Visit HideIP's website and download their trial version of HideIP Platinum. Once installed, keep changing the IPs until you get a UK IP.
Most of the time, this technique should work. HideIP instructions can be found on their site.
Remember to jot down the UK IP address and its port number though because the next time you'll run the HideIP Platinum program (after closing it), it'll automatically change the IP.
OR
if you are geeky, install Tor: anonymity online and configure it to use IPs from the UK range.

Tried It
Yes I have tried these already.
The UK proxy sites are usually IP's from China or Thailand etc!!!!!
Hide IP is pretty crap...same same, mostly china or Thai IP's
The Tor software is probably my next challenge...but I am not confident.
Nickes idea is good but I think costly??? I will look into it. Or maybe I can get a mate back home to set up a sort of network/proxy thing???????

Easiest way then would be to find a remote desktop that uses a UK server?

TOR will only randomize your IP.. I dont know that you can route geographically with TOR.
Basically your going to struggle..
Couldnt get anyone in the UK to set up a slingbox for you ??

Same Same here, BBC Entertainment and BBC World on the piped system. Plenty of old rubbish from the UK on there! Wouldn't want to live in that Midsummer Norton place would you? 5555555555
Must admit it is rare I turn the telly on these days, to much to see, to many to do!

55555555 Not this callsign Cotambear. I didn't come here to watch the box!
The telly in the bedroom is good for at least an ashtray, six bottles of Singha light, 1 BG's bra and a thong. Lost the remote months ago!

Agree that Slingbox is probably your best solution.
Assuming you have decent upload speed on the UK side, you'll also need to have a good connection on this side. Using relatively low speed EVDO here, I got marginal performance for video, and good performance for the digital radio channels (audio only, requiring much less bandwidth) - which is really why I have it.
I recently changed my ISP on the US side, and can no longer connect to the slingbox. The new ISP (or new DSL modem's firewall) may be blocking it, so you'll need to verify that your ISP will support streaming from a slingbox if you decide to go this route. For me, I'm stuck with a slingbox I can't connect to till the next time I'm back in the US to troubleshoot it.
