Aid to Myanmar - Anyone know of a good avenue

After the tragic cyclone that hit Myanmar just a few days ago one can all but wonder if there is a way to get aid and support there.

There are a few members of this board that have expressed interest in making a donation. The key is (I think I speak for most or all) to find an avenue to get the donations there as effectively as possible, meaning a high percentage of the donations actually going to relief/rebuild efforts.

Quite frankly I am on bare ground and shy of donating to organizations like Red Cross () , I do not know where to turn.

If any board member here finds a organization that appear to be trust worthy, please post the details here.

Such organization should come with a reasonable level of recommendations (a writeup or link please) and it should have the means to collect money from international donors, i.e. PayPal, credit card, etc.

Be aware though, tons of scams are certain to flourish soon.

Some of us are going through MERCY Malaysia Prepares Deployment of Rapid Assessment Team to Yangon, Myanmar

I think they are reliable , better than Red Cross.

Do you think they have any chance of getting a visa granted to enter Burma though?

Bangkok's Independent Newspaper

Unbelievable that the Junta won't open its country to aid their own people.
