Is it possible to receive Uk Sky TV (or something similar) in Phuket - or can something be done online to enable to receive something from european TV

No to sky.. Most of the Euro sats are below the horizon..
While it is technically possible to keep a slingbox at home pay the sat there and use the slingbox to view in Thailand it requires a pretty high end (for Thailand) internet connection and getting one of those is more like voodoo and the dark arts than simply buying one..
