Central Festival Mall Opening
Central Festival Mall set to have a 'soft' opening on Mon 30th August - can't be very much as still look so unfinished, but august was original schedule to open so as its an 'auspicious day' they going to even tho its not finished! More traffic chaos!
Notice (in Thai) says opening to public on Sept 1st - the 30th Aug is official ceremony NOT for general public. Last edited by K2 : 28-08-2004 at 18:22.

Traffic chaos indeed
The MAKRO store is already open and the traffic down that road is a mess. The road is being dug up, the MAKRO car park is too small so people are parking on the main road, and soon Central will open too. In the last 3 days I saw 2 accidents on that road outside Makro.
All in the same area : Lotus, Big C, Makro, Central and coming soon Index and "Billion Plaza". God help you if you need to get to the hospital in a hurry!

All (except Makro) on Chalerm Pra Kiat Rd (locally known as Baan Rim Intersection beacuse of the large resturant thats been there for years) - on the road cooming from Patong via Kathu then its a left hand turn at Baan Rim - but every tuk tuk in Phuket knows these places!
Avoid comming this weekend as will be horrendous - Makro has calmed down but still very busy after 4pm.
