vacation opinions?
Hey Guys
As I told a few of you guys that i might be switching jobs and taking a year off of work very soon, around October-November. I plan on traveling for about 1-1 1/2 months before settling down in Phuket for about 6-10 months. Knowing the time of year, would you guys go to South and Central America before you went to LOS or would you travel to 6-7 different countries in Europe. My particulars is that I will be alone, not on too strict of a budget(but dont want to spend too much). As long as Europe is freezing when I am there, I dont really care if the weather is cool. I figure when I am LOS, i will visit the other SE Asia countries when I do visa runs. I am just fishing for opinions, feel free to ignore my rants or lend your opinion!

I guess the answers are very individual and what you like and are interested of.
If me, I would be travelling in SE Asia the whole time. Europe is simply to cold during that time of the year. Also Australia and New Zealand.

yeah, but id like to see something else beside SE Asia. but i also would like to be able to get an apartment and settle down in Phuket, then travel from there, this way I am not lugging around a bunch of luggage. i am aware that its all about individual tastes, what i am really looking for is either opinions or even ideas! also with south and central america, i heard theres alot of crime, and since id be alone, im a little nervous to go alone. im also afraid if i wait til the middle of November or Dec 1, itll be hard to get a long-term apartment rental

Australia
Why don't you visit australia? Many cheap hotels, very different from one part of another!
Many people I now, bought acar, stayed 2 months, and even sold it with profit returning home!
I travelled around the world, except South America, and it was my best trip, together with Thailand I ever had! Beautiful birds, beaches, Sydney is a fantastic town to discover, wineries, and so much more!

i agree with tintin Australia is a amazing place to explore, and because there are loads of travellers there its easy to meet people to travell with. Along with the time spent i thailand it was the best time of my life, still have friends i visit now who i met while over there.

Hi Marc,
I have been in Malaysia a few years ago and it was a great trip.
I visited Kuala Lumpur 3 days, it is a big city, very modern and less crowded than BKK.
Than I staid in Langkawi 2 weeks. It is close Thailand, but less touristic. It is still possible to see many monkees in the trees or on the beach almost everywhere and a lot of ather animals too. I must loo as Phuket 20 years ago.
Different culture, it is a muslim country, very tolerant with many chinese and indian communities.
You eat chinese food most of the time in the restaurants. They say that they make Thai food too, but they just add chili in their dishes. I definitively prefer the true Thai food
I cannot talk about the girls as I was with my girlfriend, but I dont remember ladies bar in Langkawi... maybe in Penang.
