Policeman goes berserk, kills captain with AK47

A non-commissioned officer attached to Rueso police station got drunk, went berserk and shot dead a police captain who scolded him about his drinking on Friday night at the station.

Pol Cpl Somchai Sasutham, 35, of Rueso police station's suppression division, got drunk and caused chaos at a restaurant on Sukhaphiban road in Rueso district, Narathiwat, shortly before midnight on Friday.

He was forcibly taken by colleagues to the station on orders of Pol Capt Sophon Yonglun, who then reprimanded him.

The police corporal became upset, went to his home nearby and returned to the police station with an AK47 assault rifle.

He shot Pol Capt Sophon until the bullets ran out, and attempted to walk away. He was stopped and handcuffed by three police officers who were watching an Olympic event on television.

Pol Cpl Somchai confessed he was too drunk, stressed and angry to control his temper.

He was ashamed for having been brought to the police station in front of many people and police officers.

The body of Pol Capt Sophon has been sent to his hometown in Phatthalung for funeral rites.

Normaly a party in itself until someone pisses u off lah - The moral of the storey is the guy should never have ever made it through basic so that he would have access to such a weapon. Either that or his boss was a real pain who may have brought about his own dimise.
