I was wondering if there are any squash courts in phuket that are open to the public. Also if anyone knows if it is played by the locals and if it would be possible to hire equipment to play?

The sports centre in Sapan Hin Phuket City has basket ball and tennis courts available to public (free), but not sure if have squash courts - you'll probably have to ask a major hotel like Duset Laguna and charges would probably be very high if not a guest.

If you go to Sapan Hin basket ball is played at 4-6pm mostly by Thai local which you are welcome to join in. Beware staying in Sapan Hin late however as tends to be where local youth gangs congrgate and could be dangerous.

The JungCeylon complex in Patong (opens Jan 05) will have sports facilities, but dont know what facilities or cost.

I played at a hotel very close to Arcadia a few times, maybe 200 baht per hour. I were looking at Arcadia first but somebody told me to go to the other hotel. (You enter from the back road, not the beach road)

Got on a bit of a mission to find a decent gym - still seems more in way of racket facilities than thot...

If not anyone fancy a game now and again or maybe forming an informal laddeer....

I'd love to play with anyone. I used to play alot years ago but haven't picked up a racket in about 3 years.
As a young person I got to No 87 in Oz.....but a lot of water has passed under the bridge....
Love to have a hit with you stevem... October can't get here soon enough. Anyone else interested add to this thread.

I Reckon If I Played Squash In Los..i Would End Up In The Hospital............its Hard Enough To Walk Around In That Heat .playing Squash....for Me Impossible.then Again .im Lazy.....#

Nicke and Stevem, I will call in for a beer and arrange to have a hit with you guys. Anyone else who is in Phuket from October 18th perhaps can leave details with Nicke or Stevem and we can have a bash.
We will just have to confirm where the courts are available, how much to hire and if they have rackets and balls.....

How about a "PIF Squash" ladder at http://www.ropeyladder.com/ and maybe cut paste the ladder to a Squash LAdder thread once a week...
