So i would just like to say a big thankyou to Nicke for this forum and for keeping my sanity.

Down the Pub
I was just thinking what so many regular board members were doing here on a Monday afternoon. I am doing my VAT return and general admin and of course my thoughts turn to LOS, fun and sun. If this forum did not exist I really do think I would wonder if I had dreamed the whole thing.

We are all probably in the same boat ETV , I am just passing time today too , I'm actually looking forward to work tomorrow , how sad is that ? But at least it keeps me occupied while i await my next tour.
As for the family doing what they do on bank holidays , either car boot sales or Ikea , not 4 me thanks

Im glad to hear that you are bored.
Thank god there are more people than me that wonder if their life is worth liveing when they try to make the time go as fast as possible until their next trip to Los.
Ive just had one of the most boring weekends of my life. Nothing is fun in old Norway, everything is exspencive and the bars are empty. I dont even bother going out drinking, it gives me nothing. I try to talk to my friends about my lost when Im at home, but they dont understand. Most of them have never been to Los and are not able to understand a single shit about whats going on there.
What can I do? Well, for the first time of my life I look forward to every monday. 5 days of hard work is better than a weekend dreaming about beeing in another part of the world.
I have just bought an old house so Im working there every night, but when I come back home sitting in front of the tv, I can only think of one thing: LOS.
Watching old soaps on tv, see the time slowly passing by, thinking that Im one day closer to next trip. Wish it was November, but I have to fight the empty feeling inside for another 2 months.
BUT THEN IM BACK FOR THE HOLIDAY OF MY LIFE, 6 MONTHS WITH JOY AND PLEASSURE IN PATONG.

It started nice, just the same feelings that i have.
But then you end with this sentence!!!

But you are worth it Geir. After all these years skiing in Hardangervidda every weekend, you deserve a nice holliday...

i cant believe how much you guys do not like your homeland. i truly love LOS, and liek to go as much as possible, but i really love where i live in the USA. I do plan on staying in patong fopr maybe a year, but I am actually questioning if I will be able to last that long without wanting to go home. i guess to each's own

If you had lived in the UK for a long time you would understand why we prefer LOS.
Our government and local councils are hellbent on getting as much of our hard earned wages from us at every opportunity. We are taxed to the hilt, cannot move on the roads for fear of speed cameras,in all ,our lives here are miserable.
England used to be a wonderful country, but now it sucks.I have teenage daughters and I will be advising them both to travel, and eventually settle down anywhere but here.

i want to make it clear that im not ragging on anybody and ive met a good amount of boardmembers and i can say that almost all were handsome, smart fellows who im sure have good careers and do not have a problems with the ladies. i was just curious because, like i said, i love LOS as much as anyone but am always looking forward to getting back to my life in the US when my holiday is over. but i have never lived in england or any other european country so i would not know

This sounds like Norway. Last year the government took 70% of my income in taxes.

Yes its a hard life. As you know I work in the forest (lumberjack), and its not a pleashure to walk around in 1meter with snow, frozen to the bone.
But this winter, my staff is finaly able to take care of the work alone.

for me it is better to work flat weeks and have no bonus ,i have only just come back down from the 40% tax bracket by only working the bare amount,my employer is not happy either when the new working hours week starts next year,
besides which the UK sucks big timethe is nothing you can do with out being taxed or some suggesting it is taxed,
if you smoke , drink or drive (not together that is )in the UK then you are f*cked by the tax man ,
once again welcome to europe
the only ones who benefit are the illegal immergrants and asylum seekers and the goverment cant do enough for them

im in the financial industry, so i have a good base pay, but that only accounts for 50% of my pay, the 50% coming in semi-annual bonuses. those bonuses are taxes 48% and i cringe, i cant imagine how you guys must feel. do you get anything out of the taxes, like really good public school sysems or other things that are free

Oz would be a good move for both of them , for half the price of the house i live in you can get a house in Oz that is more than twice the size & with swimming pool.
I watch some of these proprties abroad prgrams & it makes you sick when you compare to the cost of living here , it's not even like we earn more wages than those down under , same same with the USA as well.
Enough of my ranting , needed to get that one of my chest

I dont want to sound out of order because i am proud to be BRITISH .
But quality of life in the uk has GONE the people are overworked everyone seems fed up day to day in the uk for me sux .
I had never realised untill i traveled and spent time in oz and los what a dirty exspensive agressive country uk is ( and to be honest other than seeing a few good friends and of course my family i would not care if i never stepped foot in the uk again ).
I have been acused over these last years of running away from life and reality ( u bet ) by coming to los i started to live a life that i enjoy and have found happiness .
In the uk i had a very well paid job and posessions but thats all i had and money can not buy what i found in los .

Thats life in Norway. On a normal salary (about 40000us dollars) the government take about 50%, but for me and my company they take about 70%.
I earn more than a "normal salary", but when the government have taken what they are supposed to, I end up with a "normal salary" anywhy.
So it looks like they are trying to kill every chance people get to make a good liveing.

i mean, people always mention free healthcare, but in the US, if you work for a good company, you can pay about 30USD/mo for great insurance. id rather do that than get taxed to the hilt. also, with the schools, some public schools in the US are not good but if you move to a nice area with your family, the public schools are great. we dont have a nationwide pension, unless yyou count social security, but we pay into that with the taxes we pay
