Udon Thani or Khon Kaen anyone??
already posted this on bm's on tour , but may not be picked up there
just received a call from my tgf this morning. i had asked her to be on the lookout for any land plots for sale in Loei Province suitable for building a house , anyway she seems to have found a few for sale by bangkok bank at very reasonable price with chanote titles. the nearest airport to Loei is Udon Thani and i was wondering if any bm's had been or noticed any car rent places there.
alternatively , the next nearest place would be Khon Khaen , but i've been there before and never noticed any .. could be wrong though , as i was not looking for a car , when i was at khon kaen.

Hi Tomyam , I had a gf out that way myself and i flew out to meet her at Khon Kaen , although I didn't hire a car she did ask me if i wanted one when i arrived and pointed to an area i think to the right as you exit the airport.
I'm sure you can definately get one , after you collect your baggage go left a bit inside the building and you will see a small ticket counter , I found a young lady working there. who was very helpful and spoke good english , best to ask around.
Have a good trip

This might be useful, it's Budget car,
http://www.budget.co.th/index.php
may not be the cheapest but certainly more reliable and safer (insurance and rip off wise) than some local ones. If you check their site you may find you can drop the car off somewhere else. Driving up and around there is easy, by the way. I have never hired from that depot, but have from 3 others.

Hello tomyam,
I'll be in Udon in late April and almost certainly looking for a car rental. If you recommend Steve's, I'd much appreciate it if you could either post or PM me the contact details.
Many thanks.
And might I see you up there at that time?
Cheers.

Thanks, tomyam. I doubt I'll be there until pretty close to the end of the month. Phuket until 3rd week of April, then Laos, then Udon: time to see the baby!
Have a good trip.
