Patong Beach - strong smell of sewage

I don't usually get to walk along Patong Beach - my work keeps me in Soi Bangla and on the beach road. But this morning was 'clean the beach' day with the schoolkids, and I had to walk up and down the beach and scowl at the jetski operators

What a smell of sewage! No, not from the jetski boys, but from the sea. All the way as I walked along the beach from Kalim Bay to the southern end of Patong Beach there was the distinct smell of raw sewage coming in from the sea.

Has anyone else noticed this? Or is my nose ultra-sensitive? In any case, you would not find me swimming in that open sewer.

A couple of days ago you were getting the same smell from the street drains, I guess the rain has moved the offending matter out to sea...
