We booked 3 double rooms for 8 nights from the 21st of October and still have to pay 800, even after a mail requesting a better rate as we were quoted 700 before booking...the reply was we could give you a better rate if you stay longer than 2 weeks, otherwise end of October is seen as "approaching High season"
In the end we decided 100 extra a night is no biggie especially since it is known to be guest friendly and the staff are professional, from all reports.

Unfortunately now it will only be 2 rooms as a mate had to pull out of the tour, but got my tickets yesterday so even that cannot dampen my enthusiasm!!

I think C & N is able to charge higher rates because of all the recommendations they have received from the BMs. The thanks BMs get for patronizing them and praising them is to have to pay more!!! Some thanks!

Thats abit of a harsh comment to make, as they are running a business. From Bafana's comment, sounds like if you know what to ask for, you can get it. Businesses dont give away income, when they dont have to.

Perhaps. Of course, there's two sides to every story. It just seems that way. But then we are all out to make a buck. It is just that some reward loyalty, some don't care about it. That's life. It is not as if there aren't plenty of other other hotels in Patong which are eager for the business! If one is unhappy, he can certainly take his business elsewhere! If one thinks they are still good value for the money, then they are earning their raise!

Agreed with you. I won't be staying in C&N anymore beginning from next tour. I had been a regular for the last 3 years and even brought friends and recommended this hotel to BMs but the reward was higher and higher rates. Not to worry there are lots of hotels as good around the Soi Bangla area. The advantage of C&N is that they pick you up from the airport! but is now even up to debate as they forgot to pick me up during my last trip in August! I had to call them up and remind them and then wait for further 45 minutes before a van came and took me to the hotel.

Nicke and Stevem, if you know any of the hotel owners, maybe you'd like to think about working out an exclusive deal with one or two of them? With a discount for BMs? It would be good business for the hotel, so I'm sure they'd all be interested to have a talk about it. To set it up, all they'd need to do would be to publish the rates on phuket info, set up a dedicated email address for enquiries - oh, and undertake to service the responses. Thanks.

Cool

Just recieved my answer...yeah,it is 800Bht and I asked for the rate of 600...
also told them I wanted to stay 2 weeks...10/10--24/10...
I think I will leave it to that. As far as Im concerned about Patong and this time of the year..its still the buyers market.

I think Victoria Guesthouse (On the beach, very close to Bangla) charge 500 baht in October. Give it a try. Sunem (forum member) who is partner in this guesthouse is in Patong now and will stay two months.

Iv'e had the same lack of response from them and also found the Lamai hotel and Lamai Inn exactly the same.

They are either full up/can't be bothered to reply or maybe just can't be bothered to check their emails.

I wonder if they realise how much custom they must lose this way ?

You are right with the last statement BB,is this the Thai laidback way of life?
I find it strange that hotels can not be bothered to reply to genuine emails for accommodation when especially during low season you would think they would be climbing over each other to secure bookings

Small hotels are like that

It seems to me unless it's the owner or someone getting a commision the staff have no incentive to promptly answer requests. Also many times the internet is down here (at least for me). Large copporate hotels have the people for their systems but smaller hotels are just a little more dodgy.

I did think about phoning C&N and the Lamai but after getting good responses from other hotels i just thought ''why bother wasting a phone bill''

That's a very good point you make about staff commisions and i also know what you mean regarding poor internet capabilities in los.

It's a good job those net cafe's are cheap as it always takes me ages just to do a few simple tasks

I also think many hotels prefer bookings from booking agencies, you should be surprised to know how many people booking room and then dont show up or enquiry but never confirm their bookings. So this can be lot of work for small hotels. Thats why prepaid booking or deposit is so common today, less hassle for all people involved.

I can see from the statistics on Phuket-Info.com that just ~20% of all bookings is confirmed and paid for. (Of about 2000 enquiries during the last year)

Pre Payment in LOS

I am sure you are right Nicke but I do not like prepaying because it is not that easy to change hotels if they have gone down hill since the last visit. It is almost impossible to retrieve a prepaid booking but you can argue about money you have not actually given them, if you see what I mean.

As regards the good old C&N. I got a Thai friend to ring them up. No rate negotiation at all inspite of being a repeater and wanting to stay "long time".

Nevertheless it is a reasonable cheap hotel and what do you expect for a tenner a night... STG 1 = THB 74.

Mac

I think I got the good rate because I remembered the booking ladies name from last time and addressed it staright to her...

Guys I think you are being a bit harsh having a go at us that plug C&N as we like the place and it serves our needs - You are our friends so we share the info with you. Simple as that and nothing insidious.

The "bashing", such as it may be, is of C&N, not of any BMs who are kind enough to share info with fellow BMs her on the forum! All info is certainly appreciated although at times it may have an unintended effect. That's life!

Think you will have to find the full 800B if you want to stay at C&N. Its a busy hotel
