The lone ranger...seeking advice!
Lo all,
Been to LOS a couple of times but always with mates and had the usual laughs you would expect when a group of young lads hits Soi Seadragon... However! Im now thinking about a lone trip and wanted to know if anyone had any advice for the single traveller, is it good, is it bad, and just other general advice. Cant wait to get back - its been a couple of years since my last trip. :P Cheers! Davo

i went solo last April had a blast, meet up with some legend b.m`s who were like a crazy gang of people,did what ever i wanted to do ,and never once felt alone unless i wanted to be .in a way i wish i was going solo again this xmas ,but i think the big grin on my face every time i return has made to much for my dad to take and now he cant wait to get out there.
anyway my only words of wisdom are DO IT ,you will never forget it

I guess the worry is that you will go out and have a quiet one and not really get to meet anyone....but then I cant imagine that would ever happen out there!
Whens the best time to go then? Not working at the moment so any time is good for me.... Davo

went a couple of times with some mates but went on my own in april and meet some great board members i meet on previous trips etv , r3aps, dm , geir, dawsey skorpion and loads others. best trip on my own. if you want to meet some great board members go to mai thai bar soi eric.
have great holiday. as for when to go. any time is good but after mid november until end april is hot weather. or just come and meet alll the board members at christmas time. baz

I LIKE TO TRAVEL SOLO.THEN YOU CAN DO YOUR OWN THING.GO TO THE BEACH WHEN YOU WANT TO....GO FOR FOOD WHEN YOU WANT TO .GO ST WHEN YOU WANT TO.etc.
ITS NICE HAVING NOT TO MAKE PLANS WITH SOMEONE....LIKE ILL MEET YOU AT 8 O CLOCK...........SHIT..........I MITE LIKE TO GO OUT AT 10..........WELL YE KNOW WHAT I MEAN........ THE ONE THING ABOUT TRAVELLING ALONE IS WHEN YOU GET TO LOS YOU ARE NEVER ALONE..........JUST GO TO THE MTB AND HOOK UP WITH SOME BMs.AND BELIEVE.ITS THERE YOU WILL MEET GUYS THAT YOU CAN SAFELY SAY WILL BE YOUR FRIENDS FOR LIFE......... In fact I think travelling solo you got much more contact with TG.....
Sometimes I think they want to come and talk but do not when to much friends are near. When you are solo they not hasitate to talk to you..... Easy target for them.......... They think

I will NEVER go with a mate again!
They don't want the same things as yourself and they are sometimes a pain in the a**! Alone is absolute freedom! You do what you want stay as late as you want, and do all the crazy things, wich some mate would not! And I never was alone when I did not wanted it to be! With or without BG!  I remember being in Phuket with new-year! My friend was NOT interested in a Thai girl, although he is single!! I went in a place in Phuket-town with a fantastic live-band! After that? i went to a small bar in Karon, with some Thai girls and boys, offering the beers, wich were IMPOSSIBLE to pay! At 2 am, my friend was tired and wanted to go to the hotel! First he embarresed me in front of the Thai people, because, if people invite you this is impolite! 2 nd it is for him, a once in a lifetime holliday, chances to enrich himself with other cultures and he prefers to see his bed! We were even not with BG's but TG et TB's!  Well I stayed, he was luckily not mad about it, and I did not get in the hotel that night! Stayed and one of the girls place!

I myself prefer to go with my friend(s).
Its more fun together with them, even i always met nice people to talk, drink etc..... Although i go with my friends i do what i want. If they go to beach nine o`clock in the morning and i want to do somewhat (or someone) else, i just do. But each to his own. You will always find people in thailand to have fun with. And you won`t be lonely (only if you want to). Just do it! And if you feel a little "lost" in los, then go to MTB and ask Nicke what to do. Best time in my opinion is November until May. (because hot and less rain). Have fun! hugo

First time I went I couldn`t say I was alone cause I made an arranged trip. So it`s not being really alone but on the other hand you don`t know with who you will be travelling. At the hotel in LOS came to speak with some young guys and we went out togheter in the nights. Good 3 weeks that time. Second time I went solo. Little bit scary in the beginning but met so many people and had so many fun. In the daytime I did what I wanted to do and in the nighttime I just went to a bar and there was always somebody to start a conversation with you or invite you to go to another place. Although I never been to MTB (sorry BM`s) I`m sure I`ve met already many BM`s without knowing it from each other.
LOS is like the song they sing at some footballstadiums YOU`LL NEVER WALK ALONE.

I think you will have a great time Thai Dave.
I echo what many have said already , my 5th tour is coming up very soon and i have never been to los anything but alone. You don't stay alone for long , only in the airport mate. I certainly agree that you can make good friends, especially in patong where the crowd is very friendly and like has been said ..the girls actually find the lone man more approachable than a large gang of lads. One point i would like to add , if you go with your mates then you have people with you who can spill the beans back home, go alone and what you get up to is your business , I for 1 prefer this

Well Tarzan it is not that simple! it are not pills that you take and feel good after a week!
Last time I tried to stop, it took me one year and a half to feel a bit decent again! You have to build up from scatch! What helps the best now is a bottle of wine in the evening! But that makes me fat and alcoholic! Wich..I am allready! I am not good, tensed, but stangely enough calm! Thursday there is a french woman coming to give me Thai massage, i hope that will releave, it has done in the past! I am NOT difficult to live with for the moment , but I suffer! it is like little animals inside me are seeking their way out of my body! I don't make Serotonine in my brain, and that is hard! I am not depressed, but it is at some moments difficult to live with! But , hey i stay optimistic! Have got worse periods then this!

Well, ive enquired about a ticket leaving the UK on the 30th of November and coming back on the 14th of December.... Who's gonna be around - anyone fancy meeting for a beer or two. A fellow 'hunting' partner shall we say One again, thanks for the help - it's really helped make up my mind! Davo
