Best Beach to visit in Phuket
I am planning on staying in Patong Beach but want to cruise out for a night and check out one of the other beaches. Any suggestions on what particular beach I should check out? Or also where to stay when I get there, and possibly how far from Patong it would be?

Kata Beach
Gday Crowman
My SUGGESTION would be KATA beach nice beach plenty of places for nice food and drink close by. Havent stayed down there but there is plenty of places to choose from. I will be interested to see other BM'S beach suggestions. BTW it would be about 15 minutes give or take to get there.

Kata is a very nice, I always go to the beach there! But you have to go in the midlle of the beach, most quiet there. The part closest to the town/boathouse, is more noisy the sand is less fine, and the most concentration of people!
In fact every beach in Phuket has another athmosphere. The beach near the former Phuket Yacht club is also an option for a day out!

I vote for Bang Tao Beach, very nice and clean and the part outside the Laguna complex is also empty and quiet. For food and drink just head to Laguna part.
Also Laem singh, Nui and Nai Harn are nice beaches.

In order my favourite beaches would be
Laem Sing, Kata Noi, Nai Harn,Surin
Any special reason why you want to go to the beach at night?

some lesser known beaches on phuket island
nui beach , just past the viewpoint , signposted on the right hand side , a bit of a trek down to it , but really nice small beach , only about 75m from end to end.
friendship beach , near to nai harn , to get to it u need to pass through the meridian yacht club hotel and follow the signs to baan krating , about the same size as nui beach , called friendship beach as there used to be some bungalows there , called friendship bungalows from the days when backpackers used to go phuket , before it became commercialised.
Another nice beach (again very small) , which i don't know the name is just after promthep cape , about 1km down the hill on the right hand side.
All these beaches are on the south of the island , approx. 15~20 kms from patong.

Hi Steve,
Its about 25mins tuk tuk from Patong going out towards Kamala just before Surin. Its a bit of a trek down the path to reach it but it sure is worth it.My driver arranged to pick me up at a certain time and I didnt expect to see him again but he was there!Lovely restaurant on beach at the steps end worth trying.

Hi ya all!
My favourite is Karon beach!
Quiet and a perfect place to get a suntan, open and most of the time a lite breeze coming in from the sea. Water is cleaner and cooler than Patong. Golden finegrain sand, with that squeeky sound from under your feet when you walk on it! Only drawback is the bigsurf and deep water!
