I'm a member and can only support anyone to try it out.

Nice members and god fun every saturday.

Just go to Expat Hotel in Soi Sunset opposit Bangla before 15.00 hrs on saturdays - and in the restaurant register as a visitor (member from another country) or guest (virgin if first time)

Here is a link to the local Phuket Hash

It used to be a very big Hash with a serious run (plus possibly a short run/walk as well) but I did it in May and it was much smaller and an easier run, not necessarily a bad thing. Well worth checking out. C&N or PS hotels are ideally positioned for this. I did my 5th run in May so am now officially a member. Won't get to it this time round, though.

Its a version of Hare and Hounds or a paper chase.

The hare goes out in the morning and sets the trail marked with bits of paper. There will be false trails, and the trail may disappear for a bit.
In the afternoon the hounds set of to follow the course that ends up at a meeting place where lots of beer is consumed at a short meeting where names are awarded (on the second or third run), and forfeits are awarded for breaking the rules such as short-cutting.
When I used to it in Sumatra the course was about 3 - 5 miles long (5 - 8 km), and some people used to walk the course, running is only necessary at serious hash clubs.

Go to Fawlty Towers in Soi Sunset just in front of the Expat, and ask for Scud or Arndt. The guys are very involved on the running of the hash in Phuket, and can tell you anything you need to know. You will also meet heaps of other local and overseas hashers there. There is now also a hash in Kamala.
