C&N Resort

I stayed at the C&N resort on my last trip to Patong. It was guest friendly. The room I had A121 (Delux Room) was very big and had a big bath but no jacuzzi. The view was slightly marred by the building work in the street outside which also started at 08:00am....

The hotel is a little out of the way and the Tuk Tuk was mostly 150 THB rather than the more usual 100. Christins is quite close though!!

The "service" in the hotel was pretty much non existent. I had to find my room and carry my bags there. (Too busy- no staff etc). The pool was quite small with only half a dozen sun loungers. I liked it though and am staying there again this time.

I paid THB 4000 per night for the Delux room and am paying THB 6000 at Christmas. No "Gala Dinner" here.

Hope this helps

Mac

Thanks Mac

When did you go?,i don't fancy it if there's building work goin' on.

In a bit of a dilema, want to stay close'ish to the action but not right at the door,so began lookin' at places in karon (which i'm still considering),will probably hire a car,so travelling is not a major problem.

I'm lookin' for a guest friendly hotel and have a budget of 1500-2000 baht per night,so the resort may be a bit steep.

Any suggestions?

JOE.

Cars and Patong

Hi Joe

I was in Patong in February so you would hope the building work has finsihed but perhaps Nicke or Geir can tell us.

There is usually an enormous price hike for Christmas week starting around 20th Dec until after New year. The room rate typically goes up at least 50%.
I looked at all sorts of hotels from Kata to Kamala. Most were "full". This can change if you offer more money but that is hardly the point on a budget.

The problem with staying outside Patong is that distances in Kilometres does not equate to time. For example Karon is about 12 miles away but takes at least 40 minutes what with road blocks, Police stops, accidents and so on. The roads are really dangerous Joe with lots of drunk BG's driving about on Mopeds sometimes three or four up. If you tap someone in Patong it will defintely be your fault and if they are hurt you will usually be arrested. Personally I take a taxi, tuk tuk, or walk.

Many of the members here stay at the ex pat hotel and of course the C&N hotel. The C&N resort is much cheaper for a standard or superior room. I think the superior is around THB 2000 over Christmas.

Search this forum with the word "Hotel" and you may come up trumps. In the meantime I have sent you a link which may be useful.

Ta Mac....

May need to reconsider,i'm landing in phuket a week on sun 31/10,i was goin' to go to find a hotel in karon,so i could go to patong as and when, and lads i know that have been to karon have said the b'g scene is not as hectic as patong obviously, but they all said there was plenty to choose from in karon.

This forum is great, and it has helped me no end,i just get a bit confused with different info im gettin',i was under the impression that patong was only 8 km away from karon ie 6 miles.

It's doin my head in where to stay,,,,,ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Joe.

Choosing Hotels

If it was my first time in Patong I would choose a reasonably good hotel to take care of me. I stayed at the Club Andaman which was a good hotel but a mistake with regard to the companion charge at THB 2000. Having competent staff who can speak english is also helpful. Most of the BM's have been many times before and it is easy to forget how difficult it can be on the first trip. A security protected hotel far from the madding crowd can seem like a welcome haven particulary if you are being pursued by relentless women seeking gratification from your body. There are some really good places in Karon and the beach is much better than Patong.

Good luck with your search and let us know where you decided to stay.

40 minutes Karon-Patong??????

C'mon, I understand it feels long because it is so close together on the map!

20 minutes would be closer, as I drive fast, 15 minutes!

wouldnt even say that.its only about 20 minutes to patong from kata.as for c and n resort and 6k a night thats outragous price.i would expect a bird waiting for me in room every night for that price.why not stay at c and n which is a fraction of that price and goto the resort in the day when you want.all the amenities at the resort are free/available to c and n hotel users.

Staying at the C&N

Hi Steve
I thought 6K was a little steep but it is the delux room. Thats the big one with the kitchen, dining area living area and separate bedroom. Nevertheless they would not negotiate at all and there is no Gala dinner. I am slightly put out by the blatant but understandable price hiking during Christmas week but then again I would not want to be anywhere else. Try booking a BA flight leaving on Sunday Dec 20th if you really want to spend some money... Yes I know and I am always envious!!

I guess that some guys want to witness the crazy athmosphere during hollidays in Patong! And it IS crazy!

This said, I prefer, as you know I am old and like it quieter, to go begining or end of the season, November or April!

No rain, and a lot of cuties available. During the hollidays there are even more, but they have too much guys to chose from! A stunner would ask much more during this season!

I agree with you tintin. I maybe younger than you but I do tend to enjoy a more relax environment, especially I am nowhere near rich so I can't afford the hotel rooms during high season. Seems I get a better deal all around during low season.

but if every1 thought like that then lo season would become hi season and vice versa.i have only been hi season 1 time b4.been 5 times lo season,i prefer when it is busier.i like big crowds and party atmosphere.and there still no probs getting a girl,it dont seem no harder to me.sometimes in lo season i have been very bored and now usually take a m8 along.in hi season when i went it was great, loads of people about and great atmosphere.

Also Christmas is a good time for travel without using too much vacation days, I dont know for other countries but many people in Sweden have one week or more off.

Also some people want to escape the christmas celebrate thing and winter time to enjoy sun and hot weather.

At new year we are allowed to stay open all night too, so people stay at the bars until 04 or so and then enjoy disco to early in the morning.

As a resident the 2 week section around Crimbo and New year becomes madness.. Its fun but tiring and when you cant get your usual seats and your usual bars etc it does wear a bit thin on me..

As to 6k a night.. Whew.. I know a studio room / apartment for about that a month !!!
