Hello to everyone.
First of all a very big hello to everyone on here. I have been following this forum for many weeks now so thought it was about time to introduce myself. I have spent literally hours every night recently trying to read all of the posts that have been made. Wow, what a fantastic site! My complements to Nicke for all of his obvious hard work and to all of the BM for so many quality and informative posts. Many of the questions that I could think of, the answers have been found on these very pages! The vast majority of my Thailand research has been conducted here so once again a big thank you!
Anyway, a bit about myself. This will be my first trip. My plan is to come to Thailand in April before the bad weather kicks in or sooner if I can get the money saved up. A few mates were going to come but surprise, surprise, one by one they were dropping like flies. Daunted by the thought of coming alone to the extent of not coming at all, in my desperation to get to LOS, I invited a very good but unfortunately female friend. Far from ideal but better than not going at all I thought!
Then I discovered this forum and the more I read, the less daunting a solo trip seemed. If anything I have become increasingly convinced that a solo trip without my mates will be a lot more rewarding. Most of you guys seem to travel on your own. When a mate is there, I guess you are less inclined to make the effort to meet new people. My problem now is that my female friend is really rather keen to get our flights booked! Now she is a fairly cool and open minded lass - far from prudish! Is she going to find endless nights on Bangla Road a bore? Is she going to cramp my style? I壇 hate her to spend all that money and hate it! Have any of you guys travelled with a female friend? My one saving grace may be that she値l bring a friend so they can then go off and do there own thing. Obviously I値l be in no mood to compromise on a change of scenery if she does not enjoy Bangla! I can not sneak off to LOS, as tempted as I am, without her knowing as she lives next door to me! Opinions please!
On a final note, I知 not the most disciplined of savers and easily get dragged out by my mates at the weekend on the piss. But that video clip of Patongs nightlife that has just been posted has really got me hooked. Now I am 100% determined to knuckle down, save up fast and get out there as soon as possible. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys and getting my reports and experiences on this forum!
Regards,
del boy

To del boy
good first post
if your going in april make sure it's at songkron which is thai holiday time.
good time to go, only lasts about two days but great fun.
As for bringing a female friend. phuket's a great place for anyone.
if she's into beaches , clear sea, sight seeing and partying phuket has it all.
If you bring a female friend with you in the evening your only have to fight off half the bargirls trying to grab you into there bar.
So long as you explain it to your friend that it's both your holiday's and your there to have fun.
when your at the Mai Thai Bar say hello to nicke and your meet some great board members to meet up with and have a drink.
do not forget to go on a few sight seeing trips like phi phi island ect.
i'm sure when you see the board members christmas photo's your be glad your mates dropped out and then you just show them your photo's when you get home and see there faces when all they've done is gone to spain ect.
