I don't think that will be a problem. It should not be, but who knows

Wink hi marc 26

your things are probably 110volts ,thai voltage is 220,if you get a proper voltage converter that converts 220 to 110 , and it has the correct plug on it to fit the thai socket, it shouldent be a problem , it depends on how much equipment you are bringing with you as to whether its worth buying a comverter, if your only bringing a shaver for example, it would be cheaper to buy one in thailand that works on 220 volts cheers

In norway we have 220volt, same as in thailand, so don't need converter. The plug in the wall fits the electronic arts that we use in norway. Most of the plugs are made to fit european sticks.

Marc, you probably should get a 'step down' converter that transform US 110V electical devices to foreign 220/240V. You should find them at Radioshack. Be sure to get the right converter for your device, if you only use it for a razor than get a 50W converter, but for high power devices you should get a 1600W converter. It might also be a good idea to get a surge protector since the quality of electrical power in Thialand is not very stable.

However, although the voltage can be changed, the frequency at which the power generated cannot and may damage some equipments, but most modern devices should accept this change, just look at the label and see. If it says: 'Input: AC 100V-240V ~ 1.0A 50/60 Hz' then it pretty much can be used anywhere in the world.

You would also need an adapter the convert your device plug to fit electrical outlet in Thailand. Last time I found one at one of the shops inside the Ocean Plaza on Bangla Road. I can get you mine if you like also.

If you can't find what you want in the states you should find them in HK and very cheap too. They have a whole street here that sells nothing but electical equipments.

Would imagine he ipod to be universal charger..

The boom box coupld probably be brught locally for less than the price of the converter eg I saw a nice DVD player with internal DD and DTS decoders plays MP3 CD / Audio CD / VCD / DVD / etc for 2200 baht.. Plug that to her TV and she has the lot.. Get some powers PC style speakers (cheap as) and you can use the ipod for the room kareoke..

LOL

DVD player is like insert disc..

Powered computer type speakers.. Plug in headphone socket.. Increase volume until happy..

Anyway up to you but I think bringing stuff that needs converters is a hassle.
