NEWSFLASH - Big fire near Wat

The Soi next to me (Phisit Karonee, Soi 2) just caught fire.. Multiple houses.. Then lots of cars that had petrol etc...

****ing inferno..

Flames came within a few feet of my neighbours house.. If the wind had been blowing NW instead of SW both his and my house would have been directly in the path of the fire... Even with the wind on our side it still nearly took his house...

So I am told it seems no one hurt.. Word among the Thai crowd was a baby was traped and died but it seems like that was just the crowd talking... Now wrd is everyone physically fine..

Have to say people just stood and gawked.. While me and a couple of others started to get hoses to douse the walls down to stop the spread I dont know if anyone had even called the fire brigade.. Got my girl to call them and she came back a few mins later with "I dont know the number" like for ****s sake call the police then !!!!!! The cars started to really go and theres a crowd all looking close.. I pinted out that a full fuel tank can really blow and got 'ohh yeah' then they kept behind a wall for cover

Reminds me it may be a good idea to keep the number for firefighers in the mobile phone.

I stayed at Phisitkaranee Soi 1 before myself so I know the area you are talking about.

Phuket Gazette just used some pics I emailed them today to get a story on the website.. The pics from my phone of the actual blaze were over exposed due to night and bright light..
