getting a motorbike licence
hi does any one know if it is possible to get a motorbike licence in thailand if you have a non-immigrant b visa ?

Yes you can.. You can even get one on a tourist visa..
I ecently read that if you have a International drivers licence you dont even need to do the written and driving part of the test, merely do the sight test and color perception tests. Automatic Thai license. My current international has expired (though the police dont seem to care) so I will do this and gain a Thai next time I get a fresh one year international.

Could you tell me if you need to book to do the sight and colour perception tests or you can just turn up? And where the office is located in Phuket town or Patong? Cheers.

Turn up in Phuket town...
http://www.phuket-maps.com/frameme.p...huket_town.htm If you click the lower central section for the enlarged pop up you will see Provincial Transportation Office marked on Rattankosin Rd. The 'Shopping center' marked is Robinson / Cinema area which is easy to navigate to. Same place for vehicle registrations etc. Let me know how the international conversion thing works out and costs etc, not done it but want to next time i have a valid international licence.

Ohh yeah also mention if they require a 'proof of Residence' slip from immigration (I suspect they may) if your not listed on a Tabien Baan. You need one to reg a car so suspect you would need one even more for a licence which lists your address.

what if you DON,T have a european motor-cycle driving licence , can you get a thai driving licence? [for motorbike]

Only by taking the test...
I have found though that they often issue international driving licences for categories your not entitled to drive, I have one giving me motorcycles / 3 wheelers / etc up to 400 KG even though I dont have that licence category in my home country. Apply and you may get given one.
