Hello folks,

I'm a middle-aged single scuba-diving scientist from London and am about to depart on my first trip to Thialand - Bangkok-Phuket-Bangkok. I have learned a great deal from this forum, and a few other select fora, and would like to thank you all for the valuable input.

One question occurs... I have a short cropped beard. The only threads I can find on this board refer to beards as warnign signs that the wearer may be a LB

Seriously, what do Thai BGs and FLs think of men with beards? I know it's the wallet that matters in the end, but will the bristles be an off-put to, say, a real stunner who can have her pick of 'clients'?

i dont see why it would put any1 off.i suppose like anywhere some like it some dont.and the girls are more interested in baht,men that treat them ok and having fun than they are about what a bloke looks like.yes looks properly decide sometimes for some girls but most i dont think care.believe me i have seen some serious stunners with some right weird looking blokes.

some of them aren't too keen on bristles/stubble, but can't see a problem with a beard

Yeah one of the girls commented on that when i forgot to shave one night, She said that she does'nt like guys that dont shave

But it didnt stop her from going with me

same happened when i had stubble the girl complained that it scratched her face ,you wont have a problem with a proper beard though ty,(unless its like desperate dan`s!)

I have a beard. Every Thai girl I have ever gone with for more than 1 night has asked me to shave and several have pestered me about it.

One of them in BKK finally got me to shave down to a goatee. When I returned to Patong, the one I was seeing there was pleased that I had at least partially shaved. but not pleased to hear why. I told her that if our relationship got serious that I would shave for her, but it never got that far.

So, based on my experience, I would say that, yes, given a choice, all TGs would have you shave. A Thai man can't grow a decent beard if he wants to, so most are clean shaven, and that is what the TGs are used to and what they like. Although even in US, there are many women who won't date a man if he has a beard, but the difference is that here there are also many who like beards and especially goatees.

They think we are big hairy apes because not only do we have thick beards and/or 5 o'clock shadow stubble, but also hairy legs and arms, and often chests, sometimes even stomachs, backs and b*tts. We are big hairy apes to them and the fact that relative to Thai people we are very rude, aggressive and lacking in manners just further makes it seem that we are sort of a cross between animals and humans, kind of half-man, half-beast.

I think that in the eyes of Thai people, romances between farangs and pretty TGs are very much a story of "Beauty and the Beast." In some cases, I would have to agree with them.

However, in my defense, I wil say 2 things. First, that although they are sometimes a bit offput by the beard in the beginning, and try to get you to shave, once they get used to it, and find out that it is very soft(which surprises them), and feels much better than a 5 o'clock shadow against their cheek or between their legs, then they seem somewhat amused by it and more accepting of it, and enjoy giving it playful tugs, and playing with it. They still think that you would look much better without it, though.

Second, Who gives a F*ck what they think? I'm not shaving my beard for any woman, let alone a BG who I am paying for my pleasure and not vice versa! What counts is whether you have the $, not whether you have a beard.

The reason I have a beard is because I think that it is insane and a big waste of time to scrape your goddam face every day with a sharp piece of steel. For what! For women, that's what! F*ck them! At times I have compromised with a goatee, and probably will again, it's a nice change of pace. But spend my valuable time scraping all the hair off my face every day. Crazy! It never cease to amaze me that guys are willing to torture themselves like that every day! God put a beard on a man's face for a reason, and I'll tell you what it is - Because a man is a man and not a woman or a goddam LB!

During one of my meetings with staff this little quiet dishwasher said "Khun Robert you need to shave"
The next day I shaved and all the staff commented on how much younger I looked (then I showed them my back)

In the end who cares, if your a tourist here and you have little brown drink vouchers they will like you.

I have a 5 inch goatee and have never had any complaints in all of the countries that I pillage. I am in the same camp as Jaybee and would never shave for a girl, because a BG only cares about $, and a potential GF would never have a chance if she only looked on the outside of me, she would be dropped very quickly. Asian women dislike facial hair as a rule, and my current Cambodian/Thai GF is no exception. She often threatens to chop it off, but she knows that if she ever tried then she would never see me again. You have to put your foot down and "man-up" or these girls will try to drain you of your last drop of testosterone!! BE WHO YOU ARE!!!
