Any news on the closing hours fiasco

Hey Guys

Does anyone know whats going on with the offical closing times for bars in thailand?
Have the government come good on their promise and 3 o'clock closing back on the agenda, or is it back to 1 or 2 o'clock closing times????
I did read an article a few weeks ago, stating that the government was going to enforce 1am closing times for all bars, even in tourist precincts like patong etc.. Nicke/Stevem have you guys officially been informed as to what will be happening with your bars..?

im in phuket now, and the bars in soi eric start to empty about 2am but maybe 230, then alot of people go eat and drink in soi sansabai, im staying in karon and it seems they are a little more lenient. they just stop playing music, but i was in a bar the other night in karon until 430am

What about the disco's like taipan,tiger,dragon etc.. Are they all closed at 2am or are they still opening until about 3-4am?

We stop the music in Soi Eric when police come, usually around 2:30, but few days ago it was 2:40 before they come. The discos close about same time.

The bars can easily stay open longer if they have enought customers who stay in the bar.

Would suggest that post New Year festivities - Gov will crack down hard ahead of Feb 6th national elections - thereafter things will go back to 'normal' - Phuket Gazette article says New Years Eve will allow entertainment venues to stay open until 6am - so enjoy the party while it lasts .....!!
