Facts: The biggest tidal wave in the past

I saw this fact on another website;

Undersea earthquakes and other disturbances cause tsunamis or tidal waves. One of the largest recorded tidal wave measured over 60 metres (200 feet) high when it reached Siberia's Kamchatka Peninsula in 1737.

Thank god the ones hit phuket was just 5-10 metres.

I read this on Dutch ceefax,

The deathtoll of the earthquake and tidal waves in South Asia has rissen to aproximately 12.000 people. In Atjeh, north-west Sumatra 4400 people have died. In Sri Lanka 4300, in south-east India 2200 and in Thailand 300.

This morning there was an earthquake of 8,9 on the Richter-scale west of the Indonesian Island of Sumatra. Cause the epic centre of the quake was deep under the ocean high tidal waves were caused spreading rapidly.

The deathtoll could be a lot higher. There is little unknown of the smaller Islands in the Indian Ocean and the highest tidal waves still have to reach the east coast of Africa.

I have heard that this tsunamis is the strongest one ever seen since 1964 in S-Asia and the fifth most important one ever registerd in this area of the world.

Also heard that the Laguna Beach Resort is completely destroyed.

The TV announced tonight more than 11.000 dead in S-Asia and at least 300 in Phuket. Unfortunately, a lot of people are still missing, so this number should grow up in the next few hours and days.

It looks like sri lanka took the hardest beat alot of people dead and 1 million people lost their home and then the country is small and poor so it´s gonna be hard for them
