1 month holiday - Koh Samui, Bali or?

Dear forum fellows, since i got the oppurtunity do make 1 month leave i want to explore the wonderfull places on this earth i either want to go to Bali or/and Ko Samui ..or somewhere else?. Do you recommend to go only to 1 of these places? and which one would you prefer and why ... or is 1 month enough, that/s what i planned, to explore both islands? i dont want to be in a hurry, if i like a place i easily stay there a few days, rent a motorbike, explore the beaches and of course nightlife, make photos, write letters lying on the beach, read books .... smoke .. cigarettes, eat satay freshly made on the beach, meet new people etc.

For me travel is and has been a lifestyle.. 1 month is never enough, hell a lifetine is not enough..

That said between Samui and Bali is a tough choice as I love both places.. Samui has lots to offer and 2 towns with nightlife.. Bali has retained a lot of its 'culture' and history and may well offer a little more in its culture shock aspect (good) but its services (garbage collection, etc) are much worse..

I would not advise doing bali for 2 weeks (with Ubud etc theres a lot to take in) though Samui could be enjoyed in that time as its easy to travel around and see the sights..

I see what you mean .. I probably just book a one way flight to samui, then i will see further ... :-) since im travelling alone its easy to change location, even the bungalow/room i will look for after arrival, i think its easy to get accomodation after arriving in feb right? if i feel very comfortable and if nightlife is good as well, or if i make friends over there i stay there probably for a while, i.e. 1 month, if not there/s still airasia and their cheap bali flight package ;-) im really excited
i hope im not diresrespecting the current going-ons and situation in phuket, sri lanka etc. its not meant disrespecting at all

Go to samui.

I was there in November and December and loved the place.

Nice beaches plenty of bg's but not the hassle you get in phuket.

Check out the Ark Bar on Chaweng Beach. Great place to stay and eat.
