My friends lost everything, they only saved 1 handphone and their swimming pants .. Lost the passport, money, everything, somebody knows if there/s some plan by the thai governement to get new papers for those affected? or what generally happens to all the people?

I would inform your friend to visit or contact his country's embassy and seek assistance. Contact info is listed in one of the thread.

I just posting this information if aither you or someone ask you what to do, if you are a swedish citizen.

A swedish ambassy have temporely been setup at this location in Phuket:
Pearl Village Hotel, Nai Yang Beach and National Park
Bangkok(Thailand), tel +66 2263 7200,

The swedish ambasador is locatated at this adress until future notis.

People in the disaster area are recommaended to call home for a status report. Several flights have been canceled but they will fligh down to Phuket empty and pickup stranded swedish turist for transport home.

I advice to contact people at home or the embassy ASAP.

Please forward this information if you meet any swedish people in Phuket.

I would guess the consulates/embassies can issue temporary papers or otherwise help people going home without passport.

Gazette has a listing of consular services that are based in phuket town.. They will be issueing passports etc and I think providing assistance if all funds have been lost (pay back later is the usual story.. happened to a buddy of mine once)..

Theres also a sound truck going round saying the same thing..
